Hi everyone,
My problem is the following. - I use Sibelius 3.0. - I use Win XP. - I use an EMU APS. - I write mostly using ethnic instrument sounds (shakuhachi, koto, sitar and the like). - I have a piece with shakuhachi and koto. - Strangely, about half of the notes of the shakuhachi part do not play. - They are skipped over randomly. - It is not linked to the range of the instrument, because I can hear the C3, G3, A3, but not D3 and E3. - But everything plays in beat, just that these notes are skipped. I would like to understand if it is linked to the driver (which I don't think since I just installed the lastest (3534) and I get the same results as previously, or if my EMU kit is slowly dying out. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Bruno Deschênes

get the latest drivers, 3537
as for notes being skipped… sibelius uses MIDI, you have soundfonts loaded for the shakuhachi? if so the SF bank for that maybe corrupted, try getting a new one if possible

Also, if you are using soundfonts. Use "Vienna" soundfont editor or anything else like that to check the velocity layers of the sounds. Some instruments velocities may not be stretched across the entire range that it's suppose to be.

Tried it and does not work
I uploaded v. 3537 and changed my SF2 files and the problem remains. As for the second suggestion, I do not think so. The Sounfonts were working perfectly a month ago.

perhaps the soundfont is too large (well, not the soundfont itself, but the samples)

I tried something here
Dear Eugene, I discovered that EMU has new drivers 1.6. Just to help me find out what is going on, I thought of removing yours and installing them. They work perfectly. My problem of skipped notes disappear. Yet, I am running into some other problems: the quality of the sound is much lower (yours are better), I can not access a CD playing on my CD-Rom. Am I the first one with this problem? The different answers I got so far did not work. I want to continue using your drivers, but I need to understand what is going on. Thanks a lot! Bruno

try usign one of the soundfont files on the creative driver cd to see if there is skipping on that, if there is not then it may be an issue with the sf itself but try
