Routing output from 1 card to another?
Hi there, I'm working on an active crossover for 12 speakers using Kx. (2 3-way and, 3 2-way spekers)
Currently I have the 2 main spekers hooked up to my Audigy 2 using the 6 outputs. It works very nice, I love being able to play with the crossovers. I also have a SB Live 5.1 giving me 6 more outputs controling the 3 2-way speakers. I have all 12 channels being controled by the audigy2, but I need to send the extra 6 channels from the audigy to the 5.1 to use the 6 extra outputs. I guess I could use a spdif output on the audigy to a spdif input on th 5.1, but is there an internal way of doing this? I'd like to keep all the prossesing on the audigy. |

yes there is, use the s/pdif and aud_ext headers on the cards, the pinouts are in the hardware reference appendix in the kX Helpfile, and within a day or two there will be a guide available for this

There are 2 spdif inputs on a 5.1 right? 3 would be nice, but it doesn't seem there is that many. And there are 4 outputs on the audigy2?
There isn't a way to send 6 channels to the 5.1 is there? |

look at the pinout for the AUD_EXT, it has i think 3 s/pdif ins… or you can use the s/pdif - i2s, the spcs are here

arrrg.....
I look at my audigy 2 and ther are no aud_ext pins, just holes. No biggie, just solder leads into the holes and all is well, or so i thoght. Turns out those hole don't actualy connect to anything, the chip they connect to is not on my board. Stupid OEM HP audigy!!

audigy 2 w/o and AD_EXt or SPDIF_IO… that's news to me… tho if you look at the kX Helpfile it shows what pins on the 10k2 chip are what… if you have enough skill u may be able to solder on to that… or follow the traces to a point you can solder

Heh, i'v tried that kind of micro soldering b4, didn' tturn out too well.
hmm, I can use the external digital out on the audigy2 with 3 spdif outs and run it back into my case to the 5.1. I got the cd , and coax spdif ins to work, but i'm having trouble with the is2\z-video. The help file says it's only avalible on the original live? I have an original live, but it only has 4 analog outputs, soooo kind of defeats the purpouse. ::shrug:: Last edited by CRFX; Apr 27, 2004 at 10:08 PM. |

I2S is still on the live… but you need to convert the s/pdif signal to I2S… look at travelrec's site for information on how to build one of these converters

sorry to be a pain in the ass again, but....
Now I need a global volume control. I'm using k2lt for my outputs with a vol control on each output for balance. playing regular stero music the wave volume control works fine, but there is no way to contril ac3 streams. If I use epilog, I get to use master volume, but only the 1st generic spdif out works, the headphone\spdif2 out gives no output.. There wouldn't be a 6 or 12 channel volume control plugin out there would there? |
