Request: More Windows Mixer controls for all kX channels
Greets! I am a keen kX user since 2001, and by now I wouldnt like my SB Live card without it
![]() I think the main thing missing in this driver, which I dont think is hard to code and would be a major improvement is to implement more Windows mixer handlers for the kX-controlled card parameters, so that for instance there should be separate volume mixer channel for Front, Rear, SPDIF, Headphones etc. and more Recording mixer channels for the "Recording" part of the mixer besides the master recording volume (Wave [on/off/vol], Synth[on/off/vol], AC97...) to be able to select the sources in a regular tv capture/audio recording software. Already would be advantageous to be able to control at least the ones present in kX Mixer. Moreover, the nicest would be to be controllable by the user what to register in Windows Mixer, including the effects' tweak parameters of the DSP plugins! (maybe this one is not so easy). Does someone agree with me? If there's any chance to associate more mixer channels into windows mixer, please help me find that out (refer to the corresponding part of the source code). If this request is a tough nut, someone could explain me why Thanks in advance! neocortex |

the kX Mixer itself is far supreme to the windows one - why would you need the windows mixer?

there arent too many pro cards out there that implement all of their mixer controls for the windows mixer. Alot of the functions of the kx drivers dirive from the dsp settings. So yes it would be difficult to put that kind of programming in. You'd have to have windows mixer controls handle every input and output plugin that was added to the dsp.

Indeed it would be very important when you use alternative volume control software. Personally I like Audio Sliders, which pops up much faster than kX mixer, besides, there are other software using the system mixer driver too.
Would be nice if the controls for the individual recording channels were included in the recording part of the windows mixer. I dont know why (maybe this shouldnt be posted here) but the UFX DSP effects' panels are slowing down the whole system so bad. Did anyone find out why? (Barton 2500+/512MB RAM) PS I also hate sndvol32.exe

Not too sure about the slow down of the dsp window. Can make a guess however that it has something to do with accessing your cards internal dsp memory or something like that.
As far as the custom mixer window, I do understand the need for that. I have a custom mixer I've created with bbinterface in blackbox. However with this I have a button programmed to set kx back to defaults so I can use all controls when needed and another couple of buttons to load dsp settings. I'll post a screenshot of this when I get the webspace. |

Just a thought. Have you concidered using a program that sends midi messages? You could use programable sliders and buttons to control what you need
