please help dsp settings and no sound

I have a soundblaster live 5.1 card, xp home, but I am having great problems with the KX driver. I am trying to record onto cubase sx but I am not getting any inputs. I know that I need to rewire the DSP but wanted to know if any one knows where it all goes. also the kx driver will just stop working and i will have no sound, but if I keep skiping tracks for example in media player, I get a ringing noise from the speakers and after a while the sound is back again. please can you help.
