Speaker failure
I apoligize for my first post in these forums to be a "please help me post", but never the less....the way of a n00b...
I have an audigy MP3+ card, and newly installed Kx Drivers, (which I like way better than the boxed software crap!) and I guess my problems are deeper than driver problems, because my problems still are not solved. I have a Creavtive 5.1 speaker setup, and when I go to the speaker test, it just says "speaker failure" six times in a row. that is better than what the creative software was doing, as it was just ignoring me. Does anyone know whats happening? Also my acceleration is not set to full. sidenote (may be related): After hours of messing around with the creative drivers, newly installed Kx drivers restored center speaker sound on Dvd's and also has given me the center speaker on stereo Mp3's (something I had drempt about before, but never experienced. Thank you Jim Cunningham... er... Kx Project! "I'M NOT AFRAID ANY MORE!" |

the reason that I had turned down the hardware acceleration, was because of a high amount of static while playing Theif III, and I thought that maybe it could be a posible solution. What would my solution be to solve that problem (the theif static problem), because turning down the acceleration didn't work?
[Edit] Acceleration is at Full, and I still fail my speaker tests, there is also still a large amont of distortion coming through my speakers, when ever a sound is played. Last edited by shakey_snake; Jun 5, 2004 at 03:03 AM. |

hook the speakers up to another computer to make sure it is not a hardware problem before assuming it is a software problem.

when I had this exact same problem before, I reinstalled the creative drivers, and everything was hunky-dory, but this time when it happened, I installed the kx drivers, and the problem has not been resolved.
That, combined with the fact that I know what blown speakers sound like (not similar to this), and I can deduce that this is not a hardware problem. |

are you using the creative speaker test, or the speaker test in kX?

Ive used both: the creative test when I had my creative drivers installed, and the kx test now that I have my kx drivers installed.
The creative test would just not do anything, and the kx test returns a speaker failure for all 6 speakers (5.1). |
