??? Mic Recording

Hi All,

Do I have to use AC-97 to record from a mic into Sonar Producer 3. Can I use 12S P16V instead or something. AC-97 is very noisy. I am using an Audigy 2 soundcard. The strange thing is, my mic is plugged into a Tascam Multi recorder (just to be able to boost levels etc) and then plugged out of the Tascam into the line-in on my soundcard. However, even when I plug my mic directly into the Mic input it is still very very noisy. Any thoughts on how to get the cleanest sound with this setup or any other setup? I have no problem taking the Tascam out of the picture since I do no recording with it. My Soundcard is an Audigy 2 SB0240. Other specs Windows XP, 2.5ghz processor, Nvidia GeForce FX video card with 128 mgs ram, 1 gig of DDR ram, KX drivers version 3537. By the way I notice the noise when I select AC-97 in the Ins and Outs page of the KX Mixer.

Thanks for Great Drivers,
