The better ASIO performance on Creative drivers?

hi guys,

I found that the Creative driver has better ASIO performance than kX does.
I tested these two drivers individually on my computer. It appeared that the most stable ASIO latency of kX driver was 5.33ms,then the cracking sound appeared if I set to 2.66ms.However,on the same computer, same programme, the Creative original ASIO driver worked quite fine on 2.8ms.it didn`t has any cracking sounds even I run 8 VST instruments and inserted 8 VST effects on each track..

Why? Is there any programming difference between Kx and Creative ASIO drivers?

My set up:
System:Windows XP pro,P4 1.7G,512MB DDR,40GB,Intel 845G motherboard,Audigy2 ZS -SB0350).
Software: Logic Platinum 5.5.1.
Drivers:kX Audio Driver 5.10.00.3537 and Creative original driver for Audigy2 ZS

BTW: are there any New Zealand kX user in this forum?

there can be a difference even w/ kX depending on certain random and unknown variables. MY useable latency varies between 2.33 and 20. try removing all aspects of creative drivers. Btw im not from NZ but just across the tasman in Australia

thomasabarnes will become famous soon enough

With Creative drivers, I cant get lower than 20ms latency, but with the KX ASIO driver I get 10.xms latency. My system specs are below, So, I guess it depends on the made up systems.

Sincerely, thomasabarnes

depending on how long the computer has been running, how many background services running, whether the computer is optimised for background services (this is what ASIO is) and whether there are still remnants of the creative junk left on your computer and adversely affect your ASIO performance, try Driver Cleaner to remove creative drivers.
