There are drivers for Linux for live and audigy based cards in the form of alsa drivers. I use these in my linux box. They work just fine.

Perhaps when the new drivers are released they will have enough info in the open architecture to be looked into for a linux solution. I do believe a kx project for linux would be a nice idea.

I'm a French Addict of these Drivers. They are Really TOO fine. Too, because i will erase my window to install Linux but I CAN'T loose Kxdriver . I cancel my linux installation because that .So I reply that it was a really, very nice and wonderful idea ! ![]() Thank you very Kx Team. I use these drivers since soon 1.5 years and I think its amazing ! |

The ALSA project is a solid base for sound drivers, and the emu10k1 driver works pretty good and can be used for low latency audio work through JACK (jackit.sourceforge.net). There is also a work-in-progress driver that allows use of the p16v on >= Audigy 2 (the guy working on it posted here recently).
The main missing component is the Kx driver's unparalleled DSP manipulation system. It is not unreasonable that such a utility could be written as a userspace app with minimal modification to the existing drivers. Rather than have "Kx Drivers on Linux!!!" we could have "kxmixer for ALSA on linux". But of course, unless someone actually wants to do this, and has the ability, it ain't gonna happen. Anyway, there is currently a DSP assembler in the alsa-tools package, but the readme does not indicate how they can be loaded onto the DSP. There are some example effects. |

ld10k1.sourceforge.net
It is not finished. qlo10k1 exists only on my computer and for now is read only (can't update config, only read). |

what you mean "any progress on this?"
Last version is from 2004/09/28. I think this is progress. I is not perfect and not as usable as it can be, there are bugs, but works somehow. PS: pzad = pzmt (I forgot password and e-mail I inserted there, then new user) |

It looks pretty functional, very similar to kX's DSP window

Hello all, it's been a while since my last post.
Just wanted to say that I am currently running the ld10k1 on my Slackware 10 with Kernel release 2.6.8.1 and it works great, takes a lot to get used to it but all in all, it's a good program. Unfortunately I have a second Kernel '2.6.9' with the Alsa drivers ver. 1.0.7rc2 being stubborn to compile. The ql10k1 frontend works just as well also. Peace all |

The one real advantage I can think of is that I have my main machine connected to another for recording. And I do my ld10k1 setup from the blackbox window manager then exit to the main shell. Then use whatever input instrument to do recording with, in my case my guitar. One main thing is that there is no overhead of a large operating system's gui, nor do I have alot of other things running that I don't need.
Another note, I have my Kernel compiled with the realtime module 'which wont compile under v2.6.9 as of yet' but on 2.6.8.1 it works with very low latency using a jackd connection. I'd say there are a great deal of advantages, but I only saw this program added to the thread a few days ago and began using it. Once I have more experience with it I'll be sure to post more of what I find. And uh, good to see you're back Tiger_M |
