TravelRec: Gameport to Midi question

Reading the docs on your site i have a questions
using the gameport header on my motherboard, which pins should i use?
Code:
 1. VCC
 2. GRX1_R
 3. GND
 4. GPSA2
 5. VCC
 6. GPX2_R
 7. GPY2_R
 8. MSI_R
 9. GPSA1
10. GND
11. GPY1_R
12. VCC
13. GPSB1
14. MSO_R
15. GPSB2
16. NC
EDIT: looking at that it seems that MSI_R may be midi in and MSO_R is midi out… but i don't want to do anything until i am sure

Hmmm,

not sure who built your header , looks not really typical to me. VCC and GND are on the wrong place and the other abridgements say nothing to me --- seems you have to test around... Finding the out pin should not be a problem: attach a LED with 1k resistor between GND and all other pins (except VCC) and put some MIDI data out of the port and watch the LED; if it flashes, then it´s the out. Finding the in is a bit trickier. The best way is to build the interface, then place a safety resistor of 150 ohms between interface out and the desired pin and give some MIDI into the interface. Check with cubase or midi-ox for incoming data and if the pin is found, remove the resistor and connect the interface finally. Can´t really understand why the gameport headers differ around. No standard here or what ???

Greetings!

afaik… the header is in an arry of 8X2… maybe if you look at it that way it would be easier to understand… i'll have another look at your diagram - i'm getting the idea thatthe MSx_R pins are midi i/o

Yes, that was my thought also - but how is your pin counting, like this:

1 o o 2
3 o o 4
5 o o 6
.
.
.
or

1 o o 9
2 o o 10
3 o o 11
.
.
.

The upper way is the most used, maybe there lies the misunderstanding... but anyway - you should be able to find the right pins !

Greetings!
