Surround Headphones unwanted
Ive been using the kx's for a while now and just had to format...now that ive reinstalled and am using the kx's again i get surround in my headphones. Ive set it to 2.1 and ive tried a bunch of different settings, im using an audigy gamer and wanna get it so its just like stereo headphones, not more eax surround or echos or anything.

in the DSP - find the fxbus - connect fxbus 0/1 directly to the headphones on the epilog

try using fxbus 4/5 instead - this is the pure front audio sound

in this case it sounds like you have a surrounder tpye application running that processes the sound via CPU before it reaches the cards DSP - the DSP is generally last in the chain of processing before it is send to the DAC's for output…
try installing the new 3538 alpha - which resets all kX settings at the same time (looks liek you are using close to default settings any way) and see how that works EDIT: before these steps - try removing the chorus and reverb effects fro mthe dsp (righ-click the modules and click unload)

If you installed the A2D drivers with Kx then you must also make sure A3D support is off in HL/CS.
If it is, and the surrounder is bypassed, and there is no other software sitting between game and driver adding effects, then I can only suggest that you are imagining this surround effect. This is quite possible - the placebo effect can be very deceptive. If you have any doubts, you might try doing everything you can to *enable* surround effects - all you should need to do is connect up the surrounder again (or reset DSP to defaults), and make sure the windows default output is wave 0/1 and set surrounder to do some surround effects. Another possibility is that Kx does processing of Directsound 3d data somewhere else. A way of eliminating this possibility is to have HL output sound using waveout, rather than directsound. This way there is no possibility whatsoever of effects being added outside the game. There is a command line option for this, I think mentioned in HL's aging readme - shouldn't be too hard to find. Good luck. |

Shouldn`t he disconnect FXbus 0/1 from xrouting after connecting them directly to epilog?
