SoundBlaster Live Overheats?
I'm running .3537 of the kX drivers and up until yesterday they have worked flawless for me. I'm using a SoundBlaster Live Value.
Yesterday, however the card seemed to loose sync and just crash. Admitedly I was taxing it -- I had three things playing back while running a SHOUTcast encoder, and CoolEdit.... I was also using my kX drivers in 5.1 mode to use two simultaneous output devices. I was also inputting through Line In -- (which is what the mp3 encoder and CoolEdit were using). Someone suggested to me that perhaps the card overheated and lost sync. Has anyone else heard of this problem, or experienced it? Can ANYTHING be done about it ? Thanks! |

try feeling the 10k1 chip on the card immediately after pwoering down your machine ot see if it is hot, you may have to increase the airflow of your case

Normally don't post here because I don't use kX.
However, I've heard of people putting heatsinks on their cards for this very reason. Just find a decent chipset heatsink, thermal epoxy = problem solved. |
