AUD_EXT_2? afaik this is exactly the same as AUD_EXT on the sblive/audigy… this is just a passthrough connector for the digital i/o board.

It's not a passthrough connector. Passththrough connector is labelled "digital I/O card" and has same number of pins as "AUD_EXT(to SB Live!card.)" There is also a digital din connector and then the mysterious "AUD_EXT_2" which is a 16*2 block with 1 pin missing from the 7th pair.

This is a very old thread, but maybe someone has solved the mystery in the meantime. I´d be curious to know.
Its the lower connector on the right side

AUD_EXT_2 on live!driveII?-live-drive-2-open-sound-blaster3.jpg

this picture is from the live drive II. But the live drive IR has the same connector. What´s up with that? Is there a pinout? I couldn´t find it anywhere.

Re: AUD_EXT_2 on live!driveII?

I never have seen a pinout for that. I have an IR and have no idea what they were planning. The manual says "future expansion" with no details.....

Re: AUD_EXT_2 on live!driveII?

I always wondered if they had planned a "stacked Live! drive" situation or something like that (with a different drive, maybe using the SPDIF input capability in the existing drive???) It's also possible things were planned that were not meant for global export, there were a few "Singapore only" items in their line......

It would be nice to know the pinout on that header.

Re: AUD_EXT_2 on live!driveII?

I've seen somewhere that the lower right connector mentioned, is for a digital out bracket for speakers.

Re: AUD_EXT_2 on live!driveII?

Possible.... I've never seen any reference to it, or adapter's available for it. It's a "who knows" at this point.

The second set of AUD_EXT pins, right next to the main set was a passthrough for a rear bracket that had SPDIF coax and optical so it seems odd to have the AUD_EXT 2 do the same thing.
