Hey guys, I know there have been threads about this card but I'd like to know the opinions on it by people who have actually used/heard them, because I'm considering getting one. Also, I have only located a couple of reviews about it, so if you can give me links to reviews I'd also thank you.

It's not supported by kX so I personally don't care about it...

I have one.
For one thing, it only does stereo. Really good stereo, but just stereo nonetheless. Sounds much better than the nForce on my motherboard. Not being too well versed in describing sound, I can't really quantify to you why it sounds better, I just know it does. What I do know is that the bass is a lot less muddy, actually pretty clear now. The highs are much clearer and not too bright. The mids are just fine. Has what people describe as an aggressive sound, which goes well with my Grado SR-80. On Head-Fi, most of the people agree that it is one of the best PC sources. I'm going to have to agree too, it sounds nice. I need to get my hand on some orchestra music to appreciate it more. Here is a picture of the control panel: http://tinypic.com/403cz There are lots and lots of options. The back of the card has two sets of I/O, one digital and one analog. The analog breakout has just 4 1/4" connectors, two for line out and two for line in. The digital breakout has Optical/Coxial S/PDIF In/Out and MIDI In/Out. My setup currently consists of a set of 2.1 Klipsch speakers, which are connected to the card with a dual 1/4" <-> dual RCA cable. I already setup ASIO to work with Winamp and my music sounds nice. I have the latency at 10ms right now, 2ms seemed to jitter a little. Probably due to either the nForce2 chipset or my overclocking. I've only had it for a little over a day, so I haven't had the time to make a better analysis of it. Unfortuneately, college eats up my free time now. ![]() If you want more info on it, browse Head-Fi. On their computer-as-source forum, they have quite a bit of information on it. It is pretty similar to the 1212m, but has more aggressive sound, less stuff in the bundle, and $100 cheaper.

The only negative that I can say about it is that its only a stereo in and stereo out. Maybe they can make another cord that could possibly add more analong inputs and outputs.
Other than that, the thing is excellent. The inputs are pointlessly quiet and the outputs sound very nice. I have no clue whether they sound accurate, but they are definately nice. |

I think they sound a lot more accurate than an Audigy 2.
I must find nicer speakers, are the Swan ones any good? I was thinking of going for them before I shell out the cash and get cheap bookshelf speakers and an amp. I would still need a headphone am though. . .

Do they make anything that has both speaker and headphones amps that you can switch between? Well, I don't see why they wouldn't, but it would just be a matter of finding a good one.

Just a short note, you can use the analog IN/out with the digital in/out at the same time, so you can have four IN/OUT ... sort of...

Yep, electroNIX, that's why it's called 0404 --> 04 ins and 04 outs. The same applies to 1212m and the others.
