Is Creative screwing up again?

http://www.creative.com/products/pro...p?prodid=10653

Just found this new "Audigy 2 Value", it has no firewire nor the external Audigy drive bay connector... Also in the Creative store I can't find any version od the Audigy 2 that comes with the Audigy Drive Bay.

They're limiting the upgrades possibilities... bastards.

Yeah,

this is another mainstream "brainless-user" card (sorry guys, but we want to tweak everything and we need ALL possibilities), but it seems to be kX-compatible. Seems also, that CL just downgrades all current models to save some money ??! ... no wonder that there are so many confused people and once a week another card model ........ ... . ..

Donator
Creative can't think of anything new and since they run the sound card market anyways. Why not come out with a stripped down version of another card, and make even more money...

You ever said Creative was professional..lol, Just as what is pointed out in my other thread about the SB Live! 24 bit....very new. I contacted Cre. Support to get specs to post for the forum....I was informed that they DO NOT have a 24 bit live...So once again I had to Send them a link to one of there own products...(Can't Believe that!) then they stated the card is only availabe in asia?...then why is it on creative.com and not there asia counter part? They are one weird company....

Just for info. This new card has PCI ID 1102:0008. This means new pci id = new chip.

could be a new revision of the 10k2 chip, it looks similiar… it doesn't even have a gameport/midi port on it… i guess its alright for an OEM card

gaah, I guess I'd better upgrade to the ZX platinum soon, and feed the old 2 platinum card to my linux box! not that I have speakers hooked up to that at the current moment. My father and I have been Creative product users for eons, and find their product to be above most out there, but lately it seems as tho they have young, inexperienced interns running the show on the marketing/customer service end.

you won't get much gain upgrading to a zs plat… best bet if you do want to upgrade is just buy a ZS retail, and keep the platibum drive from your old audigy 2

I see.... Well I guess if I want the Z-5500's, I prolly don't really need to worry about native 8 channel support, 6 channel is ok. Prolly not even the dts 96/24, since those speakers have hardware decoding of that. I don't really need to worry about dd ex, since I don't do anything or watch anything that has that. 5.1 is fine with me, I'm not a real hard core audiophile

you can use modded ZS drivers on your a2, if you really need the extra decoding, or use AC-3filter

:-D I happen to have (re)installed the AC3 decoder plugin for Winamp. Now, would the AC3Filter run better(and in realtime) with my hdtv tuner?
