Noise output during HD load

Hey!

I am experiencing very loud noise when my hard drive has a high load.
I have muted all input/outs except the main one, and the noise is still there.
It disappears though, if I mute the main volume control. I have a Sound Blaster Live! soundcard.

I apprechiate any help given

Thanks in advance,
Trym

System Specs

If it is a SATA interface harddrive, try pushing the SATA cable a little bit further away from the soundcard. Tell us more about the system please.

New discovery

Hi!

Thanks for your tips. After further investigation, I discovered that HD load
was not actually the problem, but when my NIC sends a lot of data.
The noise appears when I engage a transfer over my LAN. At first I thought
it was because of the HD load. But after copying big files from hard drive
to hard drive and the noise not appearing, I concluded that it must be the
NIC. Any ideas how to prevent this?

Note: The sound was not there before. Unfortunately I cannot remember exactly when it first appeared and what might have caused it.

move the s-card as far from the nic as possbile with out sharing an irq - two slots distance should be enough

I kinda had a wierd issue like this when I first installed this mobo..I was getting interference from everything..like beeps..patterns..I figured it was Bus noise but I wanted to get rid of it..turned out that if I muted my CD in..problem went away....I usually disable all I/O I am not using..so I don't add more noise...
