Ac97 2 assigned to line in, AC97 to mic permanently, is it possible?
Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to have the AC97 2 codec permanently routed to the line in and the AC97 to the mic, I don't know if this can be done. Thanks.

Ok, from what I read this would do the trick:
go to "run" in start menu and type: kxctrl -shw 19 1 kxctrl -sac97 2 0 I did that, but Ac97 2 keeps doing nothing when I change it's slider, I have my guitar plugged to line in, but the sound still comes from AC97 1 By the way, I found a bug (maybe you know already): If I reset the DSP, and then the AC97 codec, even if the AC97 volume slider stays set to 100, there's no sound, I have to move it to have sound. |

You can create a batch file to run this commands in every windows start. Just open your note pad, write them there, save the file as kx.bat (or another name) and put it in the start folder so it is run at each windows start up.

But I can't make AC97 2 work with these commands.

I cleared and reinitialized the DSP window. I did those two commands. I unmuted ac97 2 in the mixer and set the slider to 0dB (the little arrow most of the way up). Works great. Line in is coming through ac97 2 and out through the speakers. You may want to make sure the ac97 page of the mixer is set to "mic". |

You have a Sb0092 Audigy. I have a SB0244 Audigy 2. I just noticed that after I run "kxctrl -shw 19 1" I get a message saying "error setting HW parameter" what could it be? Could it be that my card may have a different configuration?

From what I understand, that should work. I remember using the same trick when I was running 3537. Currently I'm running 3538a.
Anyone know why this wouldn't work for him? |

I thought that only worked for Audigy 1s and not for Audigy 2s...

afaik this should work with a2 models… but only for cards with the second philips ADC… i guess some of the OEM Audigy 2 cards don't have it - if SHW 19 1 doesn't work then the double codec trick won't work

Well, just tried 3538 in my 2nd WinXP installation, did the same commands, and nothing... I guess SB0244 doesn't support that... what a shame. By the way, can anyone with a SB0244 card check if this is true?

Audigy 2 doesn't need "kxctrl -shw 19 1" - this is only for audigy 1.

set volumes on ac97 for line in and then do kxctrl -sac97 2 0 If you reset ac97 then you have to rerun this command. Description of commands: kxctrl -shw 19 1 - this is only for audigy 1 and dissables route from analog inputs to front speakers - this is not needed on audigy 2, because this card doesn't have this connection. kxctrl -sac97 2 0 - this sets master output volume for ac97 - default is muted - you must run this. I still wonder, why kx drivers not uses philips ADC as default for all analog sources except mic and ac97 adc only for Mic. Creative windows drivers works this way. |

Look at
http://images.europe.creative.com/ar...ud2_Card_c.jpg Philips ADC is small chip between AUX_IN connector and main chip. It's number is 1361 - check for this chip. |

Thanks! This is a scanned portion of my Audigy 2, oddly it has a SB0240 pcb, but kx refers to it as a SB0244, I found the chip. Cool! There's still hope.

Try to do this:
Reset AC97 set recording source to Stereo Mix set "line in" volume set "AC97 recording level" set AC97.1 volume - on AC97.1 output (in prolog) you should hear line in set AC97.2 volume run kxctrl -sac97 2 0 on AC97.2 output (on prolog) you should hear line in when you change recording source to mic you will have mic on ac97.1 and line in on ac97.2 |

I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!! I hope this can be solved in a future driver release. I have two cards in my system, an Audigy 2 and a SbLive! Value. After disabling the SbLive! in the device manager I successfully enabled the routing of the line in to the Ac97 2 with the "kcctrk -sac97 2 0" command. Add this to kx knowledge base. :-p

I think you can specify card number in kxctrl.

You are correct, I didn't know that. I've been reading the commands instructions, the command I had to use to make it work with both cards enabled was "kxctrl $1 -sac97 2 0", where $1 is the number of the card. In kx panel my Sb0244 is "2", but is $0=1 and $1=2?

in digital systems, "0" is always the first number

Yes, card number is an issue I ran into when I was fighting this battle... I have 3 cards, you wouldn't believe what a headache!
The other complicating factor is that there are sliders on the "Ins and Outs" page that must be set to 100 before this trick will work, and if you're using highly custom DSP settings, as I am, then these sliders are not available to adjust. The solution? Reload the default DSP setting, adjust the sliders, then reload your custom DSP setup. I don't know if this is all in the kB yet, but it should be... |
