Dell SB Live info and help
Hi everybody,
this is my first post since i have just installed cubase on my dell and tried to play my guitar live with it...but then clearly the latency problem occurs and looking on internet I found this great kx-project. I tried to install the kx drivers on my pc without success and i have just realised that it's a "dell" problem as i read in the kx-project FAQ. So my question now is: is there the possibility that in the next future the kx drivers will work on DELL pcs? Is there something i can do to bypass the problem i have? Last stupid question: i have a laptop with intel ac'97 card...is it possible to install the kx drivers on it? Thank you |

kX will only work on 10k1 and 10k2 cards, the dell sblive has a different variation for some reason, and is unsupported
try using a program called asio 4 all

sorcimatt,
Just wanted to make sure that you realize that the problem is not with a "DELL PC" but with some OEM Creative cards they have used in their PCs-From the KX FAQ: "The Dell OEM SB Live! (SB020x) is not yet supported since it uses a custom version of the EMU10k1" Is that the model you have? My Dell at work has a CT4780 or CT4870, I forget which but both models work with KX. If you have one of the unlucky model numbers, you can buy yourself an SBLive card from the list of supported models and get KX working on your PC. http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/faq.php?language=en#cards Also, if you pick up a supported card, you can still use your old card, hook the 2 together with an SPDIF cable, and have 4 MONO inputs. The tricky part of that in your situation is having one card using the Creative drivers and another one using the KX drivers, they don't seem to play well together. But I know a few users have got both drivers working on the same machine, I never did. This picuture from the Dell site shows an SPDIF out, which you could use to connect to an SPDIF in on an SBLive or Audigy. http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...en/connect.htm Or maybe it has the regular AUD_EX connector which would be simpler.
