sb live sample bug
Excuse my little stupid question....
I had to reinstall my windows and I find that my sound quality is not as good as before. I've installed same version of winamp, same KX driver... but the subwoofer sounds worse than before. I think it was a plugin I installed, it had to do with a sampling bug for SB live ... but I can't find it any more ... can anyone help me ? |

Never heard of a sampling bug...the only thing I could think of is that you set up KX before..using surrounder..got it all tweaked the way you liked it..then when you reinstalled..you need to reset all your settings in KX....Could this be the problem?

Are you talking about the re-sampling plug-in for Winamp?
Made for the SB Live or Audigy, increases the kernel buffer size so that resampling (44 to 48hz) is done more efficiently, or something like that. I have it installed, and it actually works. To my ears, anyways, the highs sound clearer when playing Mp3's or CD's through Winamp. You'll find it in their plug-ins section under output. Pierre |

I just installed that....I don't think that what he's speaking of though..as it would have little tto do with the subwoofer.

I've found that plugin but it didn't do what I expected. I don't really understand... I've added a 10 Band EQ to the subwoofer channel to better control the freq-s.
Before I reinstall windows, when I moved the 31 Hz slider almost to the max I used to get a very deep, round sound. Now it's more like short bursts... bang... bang...I can't explain it in words exctly....It's like the woofer acted better on very low freq. The only thing diffrent I belive is that I installed XP Sp2 but I can't belive that's the reason... I'm so sad... I miss my bass...Any suggestions for improving the quality of the sound on the lower freqs ? |

nooo...NO....Your just adding MUD....Did you configure surrounder?....I think thats where your problem lies..the Bass redirection...goto 3D audio thread and read surrounder explained...I can't see Sp2 causing such and issue...I think you just need to set your bass redirection crossover frequency...what type of sytem are you using...need alittle more info before we can get it sorted out for you..

I keep the Split Freq aroung 170 hz. 5.1 mode, Vcenter -1,VrearA - 1, Vrearw-0.66,VrearD-5ms,Use subwoofer and bass redirection.
My sistem is a Creative cambridge Desktop Theatre 2200.+ Sb Live. (It was a retail package a few years ago). Everytime I used to move the 31Hz slider to the max I got a very , very nice low sound.(ex Tiesto - Trafic). Now ... when I move the slider up.. sound rubbish. Now I feel the sound quality is at best the same as Creative drivers. I tried to use other players. foobar 2000 sound more or less like winamp, WMP 10 .. I could not move bass sliders up because bass gets saturated very fast. (I am talking about the sliders on the EQ I've added only to the subwoofer channel) pS: I tried to upload my dsp here, but it says maximum file size 1 byte. Is upload restircted? |

quote: "Note:If you use a 5.1 speaker setup, which requires 6 connections, then you do not need to read this" Also "Note: Some speakers designed especially for the Live! series cards automatically invert the phase of the rear outputs, so if the bass sounds perfect, you do not need to read this. "
My 5.1 speakers came in a retail package with SB live... I've added the phase module but I can't notice any effect. |
