continuous, permanent beep (when volume turned up)

hello :]
i have a problem which has affected me since i chose the kx drivers (in favour of the sb live! drivers).
when i turn up my volume quite a bit (or put on headphones thus having to turn up the volume of my amplifier/receiver) (or when im sampling from my pc to my akai mpc sampler and there turn up the gain (for instance when sampling classical stuff or whatever to produce a louder signal) i get a constant beeping as if my computer wasn't earthed properly or so. it's just a permanent quiet beep. it's very, very annoying especially when i sample quiet tones and i can always slightly hear the beeping sound in the backround.
i have an live! platinum card (the first one released as far as i can remember).
now i doubt it has something to do with the earthing of the computer (as i didn't have the problem before (not ruling that possibility out though).

if anyone can help me out in any way, it'd be really appreciated as i sincerely do not want to go back to installing the creative drivers which caused all sorts of other problems (but not the beep! )
regards
sean

Hi!

Is it a beep or is it a noise? If noise and if CDanalog in is open, mute CDanalog on AC97page. Be a little more specific about the tone...

Geetings!

hello there!

first of all, thanks for the replies dj_stick and travelrec.

i@ dj_stick: yes, they're all connected to one powerpoint (ie. yamaha receiver, pc, sampler etc.)
@ travelrec: the CDanalog didn't help, for your convenience however, i've recorded it, i turned the gain up on my mpc, sampled the beep, whacked that on a disk and put it on my pc, well, here it is (this is the gain turned up quite a bit, just to emphasize the beep). i get the same sound when i have my headphones on just listning to mp3s (winamp) or whatever, it's constantly there.

thanks for your help in advance

I downloaded your wav file. It sounds a lot like the irritating noise I had for a while. All my audio cables were running from my mixer->behind the monitor->to the computer.

I moved the computer to the other side of the monitor and and the noise quit. My monitor was the source of all my woes. Hope your problem is as simple.

Do u have a microphone connected?
If yes it could be a feedback, then reduce the wave recording volume to 0.

Hi guys!

I didn“t thought that it was so easy - this should be added in the FAQ file of kX or in the setup guide. Some cables on the market seem to be very unshielded that they pickup that much noise. Thanks Doug for the advice in that direction!

Greetings!
