SBLive Mic ALWAYS?? come through Speakers??

Hi,

Thanks for reading this.

I have a SBLive Drive Platinum card, and my dynamic mic is plugged into the "Mic" mini-jack 1/8 hole in the back. Even though I have experimentally REMOVED ALL CONNECTIONS in the DSP (3537) and even disabled all routing boxes, except the FX box which would not let me: The Mic still comes through my speakers, which are attached via a receiver going to the "speaker/line out" jack on the back.

Is the SBLive series just hardwired to feed the MIC input through to the LineOut? If not...can I change this somehow?

My issue is that I play music through my speakers while singing into the MIC, and feedback is a problem. I would just like to be able to turn off the routing from mic to speakers if possible.

Thanks!

Hi DJ Stick,

Thank you verry much for answering the little newbies fluttering about your flame!

I tried that: Default DSP, and muted the AC97 sliders on both the "Ins and Outs" tab and the "Recording" tab in the KX Mixer. Still...the mic always passes sound through to the speakers hung off the speaker out jack.

Am I missing something, or is my card harddwired perhaps? I am getting the feeling that the mic doesn't go through the DSP, or if it does, that route can not be redirected?

After reading all of Lemury's instructions...I got the impression that if all routes in the DSP were disconnected...no sound at all, but my Mic lives through it all...to my frustration.

What's the missing puzzle piece here?

Love,

Me

Analog signals (CD, Line In, Mic, Aux) on SB Live are routed outside DSP (in ac97 itself) to front speakers. Only way to dissable is to mute analog sources. For you mute Mic (you will be able to route mic to DSP selecting mic as capture source).

Thanks Pzad!

Where do I mute mic - in/outs; recording section?

Also, since my live drive stopped working, I use the mic jack on the pci card, which does not seem to have a representation in the Kx DSP other than AC97? But AC97 also seems to represent the output to my front speakers. So, what is the routing cable/label that I would use in the Kx DSP to reroute the Mic to a different output...and what would the label be for the output...I am guessing somewhere in the Epilog?

AC97 is used for analog inputs and front output.

On AC97 Page there are analog input (Mic,) slider - put it down.

Yes...of course...I tried that...was hoping I missed something. Sniff sniff.

I wish things were more broken down. I wish there was a clear out for the fronts as separate and distinct from the IN for the mic. Seems overbundled and over intergrated...
