Completely Lost

Ok, now I mainly wanted to get kX installed for the ASIO, but I didn't want to lose all games functionality (I don't use EAX or any jazz like that, as long as it does DirectSound)...

I got it going, and Windows played sound right after I set the reversing of the channels off... but thats about all I could do.

This thing is so fsking robust :/ I'm sure its good for you but I'm killin myself trying to get ASIO inputs working, AND sound from normal applications.

I have a SB Live! 5.1 (SB0102 5.1 in the mixer), and sound worked in games but I could no way for the life of me get the microphone working in games, nor in Guitar Rig for ASIO. I set it to 48khz etc, but it just wouldn't work.

So I went into the kxDSP, and when I cleared it, voila! ASIO inputs work, I can hear sound (normal windows sound), I can hear Guitar Rig playing the effects... but... mic still doesn't work in things such as Counter-Strike, and now I lost DirectSound (can't hear anything from winamp). I figured out its the "epilog" whatever the hell that is that makes sound work and not work, but I would really like to know where I should connect all these lines and whatnot, all I want to use is the Line IN for my guitar/tv tuner (I'll swap the cables) and the mic jack for my normal microphone.

If ANYONE could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated

I was about to reply quickly that I already read that, but I skipped the part about the DSP!

Thanks a lot, works great, but now I have another problem...

(And yes I triple read the guide this time... but I've been long without sleep so bear with me )

When I unmute the AC97 in the "Ins'and'Outs" panel, I hear the microphone through the speakers, or I hear the guitar through the speakers, but that is the only way for it to play in ASIO.

The regular multimedia microphone inputs work all the time regardless, but the ASIO inputs only work when the AC97 is unmuted, but then either I get feedback or I hear the same in the speakers which is semi annoying

I made sure to mute the "Wave Recording Level" in the Recording panel...

Thanks again for any help!

Dont know how it will work in your games but LeMury has an excellant simple example DSP setup here:
http://members.home.nl/nahutec/kxtutor/quickkx.htm

This simple DSP I believe is the answer for most "kX newbie musician" setup. For 2 reasons:

1. The monitoring of the live signal (the sound from line in comming directly out of the speakers) can be easily adjusted with the "stereo mix". Turn this down when monitoring via Cubase or other software monitor.

2. With basic understanding of the DSP window you'll NEVER have to touch any of the other kX mixer windows. It all happens in the DSP window baby!

Dont waste alot of time trying to figure out all the mixer windows; the master, the In/Out, the recording, the AC97 mixer pages are more confusing anyway. Just play with the DSP. Once you "get it" , well its like an apifany.

There is no way to not mute the AC97 but mute the output through the speakers of AC97?

Sure, there is. Save the current DSP, then throw all plugins out of the DSP and create your own design using proFX. You can route anything to everything inside of the DSP, so take a look what other peoples are doing with it in the DSP-Forum or in the DSP setup threads. There is a lot of information inbetween.

Greetings!

After some examination, all I had to do was disconnect the AC97 inputs from the xrouter

Ok, finally getting closer to the final destination.

Is it possible to run my Line-In (external on the back of my card) to ASIO WHILE the mic input is running to the regular sound input...

(Essentially set it up so when I want play guitar i dont have to hop in the mixer, and set recording device to line-in, I just click and go )

Hi!

Not really possible on Live! cards - all analog ins share the AC97. You could only split the LINE into 2 mono Tracks, rcording them seperately in the sequencer - left side for guitar, right for Mic - but then you need an external amp for the Mic to reach an adequate level...
