Line-In problems with kx and SB Live!
Hi,
I use the great kx driver since about half a year and have some problems and questions now. I bought a cinch cable to connect my MD player to the PC and plugged it in into the Line-In of the SB Live - and finally found the right kx settings to be able to hear the input. First I couldn't record the input using the dBpowerAMP Music Converter Auxiliary Input. When I clicked on "select input source" in the options I got a Windows error message, telling me that the audio hardware can't be used correctly. It also told me that I should install the mixer using the hardware assistant. I decided to ignore that for now. Then I managed to record the Line-In input using the AC97 kx record settings. My remaining problems are: 1) How can I - with that mixer problem - record JUST the Line-In while being able to listen to some online radio or mp3 files with Winamp? I don't want to have some Windows error sounds recorded either. 2) What I don't understand at all is that I can either listen to the Line-In input activating the "LineIn" button on the "AC97" kx mixer page or the "AC97" button on the "in- and output" page. 3) Is there a way to use a shortcut, systray icon or something else to easily mute the Line-In? I use Windows 2000 Pro, still with kx 3534full - the change log gave me no reason to think about an update (you know, never change a running system). 1) Mute the "wave" slider in the record window (or use the DSP)
2) Please be more clear 3) you'll have to save a preset file, and shortcut to that in the quicklaunch

1) Thanks, that works!
2) No need to be more clear, I just misunderstood something ;-) 3) Sounds logical, but how do I do that? Is there a how-to somewhere? |

3) just set the line level to mute, then right-click the mixer select save-settings - in the option check the mixer settings. Save it as line-in mute, and put it in the quicklaunch folder/desktop
then set the line level to unmuted, and then save it again as line-in ummute
