there's no need to comapre these... kX is BETTER, FASTER, MORE POWERFULL and MORE BEAUTIFUL!

and ASIO for ALL has it's own adventage: It is compatibile with almost anything! kX works only with 10Kx cards...

ASIO4all website itself says to use KX for SB Live! if you are doing music.

And that is that.

I use and love kX. But with kX alone I was not able to run Cubase and Logic (or Vstack and Logic) simultainiously. Using Asio4all and kX at the same time on the same card works great! This enables me to use Cubase as my main sequencer but record the audio from those amazing Logic instruments. On stage I run Vstack (with numerous Vsti) and Logic (and its great sounding instruments) at the same time.

I got a SB0060 and installed the kx drivers. They are very nice, especially for all the features they have. (The parametric EQ by UFX should be included by defeault, it's great!)

But I had the Asio4all drivers already installed, so I tried to use them on top of the kx ones... the result:
I can get better performance by using Asio4all (v2.7). Aka I get less clicks/pops at 2.6ms latency.
I tried this in Renoise and Cubase, it's the same.

I was kinda surprised by this, since I thought Asio4all will use more CPU. Is this normal?

This has been an issue with the later versions but not version 3534f.

OK, might try the 3534f then. Any issues with that version for any apps/games?
Will I still be able to use the parametric EQ - EQ P5?

I have to uninstall my current driver and install the older one, right?

So, I tried the 3534f and it's the same. I get about as much pops as with 3537 and Asio4all performs better with 3534f as well.

Bummer. Don't know what to say, My pops and clicks went away with 3534f. You have all the usual system tweaks for audio?

Yeah, the PC is ok, I guess. Actually these pops happen only if the CPU is used by a certain %, for some songs at around 20% for others at around 40%, ...(depends on VSTs/VSTis probably). I guess you already knew that, tho.
But what's interesting is that with Asio4all the CPU usage is slightly higher, yet it has less pops.

So what do you have for a PC -RAM, CPU, OS, etc.

And how many tracks are you working with and do you use effects on each individual track?

A64 3200+, 1GB of ram ddr 400mhz dual channel, Asrock 939dual-sata2, WinXP SP2.
SB0060, my DSP: FXBus->EQ P5->epilog, stereo output, kx 3537.

I tried the drivers with songs up to 10 tracks with plenty of effects on each track. Actually I'm not really complaining about the overall performance. I mean pops at 2.6ms are to be expected, when using some effects and synths right?

Well I believe so. On my PIII (see system specs in my signature), I normally keep it at 21.33ms. I do pretty much all analog recording so it doesn't seem to effect me. When I switched back to 3534f, I experimented recording 15 tracks with effects in each of them. I was able to play back without pops or clicks but the CPU usage was hovering around 90% or above.

In real life recording situations I only have enough creativity for 8 to 10 tracks, then my mind shuts off so I don't run into problems with stressing this old computer.

Is Asio4All real ASIO driver?
some documents say it is called "kernel streaming"and only simulate ASIO(so,many on-board cards support "ASIO" then...)

System Specs

you are correct

it's not a driver per se, it doesn't replace the stock drivers like kX does, rather it "adds" asio support
