I really doubt the new chip is 10kX-compatible, probably, a kind of Audigy LS-like hardware...

We will see. CA0108 (used in Audigy 2 Value) is emu10kx compatible and works under linux with alsa emu10k1 driver. I don't think, that creative made CA0108 only for one card.

So there might be a little hope for me that my Audigy2 Value would work with kX

Little hope - yes, but ...

It takes 5 month to get rear output SB Live SB220 with STAC9758 AC97 to work with kx and this is still hack. Under linux this card works correctly 5 month before kx.

For Audigy 2 Value - I think this takes more than 5 month.

I've found this statement in the warp2search.net website

<< ....This Cardbus-based mobile audio solution sports the very same E-Mu 10K2 audio processor that powers its desktop cousin.....>>

You can read This Folks

yes, audigy2 value might really work under kX in the future
due to different PCI configuration and GPIO registers, it might take some time for the card to be supported, probably, partially

[psad]:
as for '5 months', '3 months' etc. -- you can always install the original CL drivers and enjoy -- no need to wait

Does this also mean that, if used with a USB-based MIDI keyboard with a ZSN attached laptop, you could PLAY GM-based soundfonts (downloaded off the Internet) like a synth module??

I always wanted a laptop
(preferrably with kX installed)
and this card is just $139 (although the price is about 2x times higher it could really be)

but anyway, I guess kX will work. I'm waiting for some additional details about the hardware.

Amazing! The quality of the card seems to be sufficient. The support for this card will 'expand the potential' not only 'exponentially', but exp(x)^2 if you ask me.

If this card can coexist with kX i'll sell my furniture to get one! But searching all these reviews & so, i found out that this card may have only ONE INPUT! Seems that optic/coax/line in connector is shared... Add that to non-existant MIDI connectors... It seems to support sound fonts!?! dj_stick, could you show us some pics here, please?

as for midi, use a USB/Midi device, you can still use that to control soundfonts on the ZS-NB (afaik)

I would really love to have this card, no matter lack of inputs... I'm sure we could figure some way or another to get additional inputs.
I just hope this this devil has another 'unknown' connector = more interesting stuff to do...

Just for information:

Audigy 2 ZS notebook has PCI ID 1102:0008 - same as Audigy 2 Value

This is exactly what I thought, Creative will not make 1 chip for one card.

depending on the card - if CL drivers supports 24/96, this i can see kX working with this IF the value chip is supported, and also when 24/96 is finished

Yes , It's Possible to get 24/96 Asio input
http://dmzweb4.europe.creative.com/S...,Kb=ww_english

I resume, this card is cheap (relatively), real 24/96 asio, and is a 10K2 compatible.....
Miam, Hope Eugene 'll add a support

I got my a-2 zs notebook two days ago. Bought it hoping it would be kx-compatible. Regret I didn't read the forum before...

Anyway, the kx-installation id the card as:
SB0360 10k2
(PCI/VEN_1102&DEV_0008&SUBSYS_20011102&REV_00)

But everytime I try to install kx I get the bsod.
The CL drivers was a big dissapointment so I hope there is some way to make kx work.
I've tried chosing different cards in the installation but I always get the bsod. Or more precisley: the screen freezes and after a few seconds it all goes black. (And my hand reaches for the powerbutton)

I don't think this card will work with kx as is. I think it need special handling to switch inputs and outputs. And I think this card doesn't have AC97.

please re-check that with 3538g... this is quite strange the card has this PCI ID, since it is used for audigy2 platinum pro zs
