Subsystem ID can be same, but PCI ID is not (0008, audigy 2 zs has 0006)

Alright, here are some part numbers I've found in the A2 ZS N package...
Code:
The card itself: M1SB0530473002491A
Box: 06SB0530473002491A
Quick start guide: 03SB053000002
Edit: Just realized there's a "Model No: SB0530" on the card ifself. Last edited by NetHead; Dec 19, 2004 at 06:26 PM. Reason: Formatting |

Are there any news regarding the kX support of this PCMCIA card ? If I could do any test to get the drivers work, please note me.

no news yet, you can try testing the a2 value drivers (the card appears to use this chip)
search the forum for the audigy 2 value testsuite drivers

check the kxdev website for the monitor application
but seeing as most laptops have built in sound, this is to be expected, due to MS's crappy coding. Windows wasn't designed for more than one soundcard, so installing 2 or more, when installing the drivers a system slowdown is to be expected. Just wait it out and see how it goes (Btw i run 3 soundcards (2 kX cards) so i know how you feel)

So it is normal, that the system hangs up ? No mouse move, etc... ? For how long ?
Anyway I will remove the built-in soundcard drivers, maybe that helps. Which SBxxxx variants are Audigy2 ? |

there are several that are audigy 2, but you need to find the ones that are "audgy 2 value"
search for the threads on this forum regarding their model number

Still hang ups.. no BSOD like ist has, only freeze.
Tried several variants, tired of them. If there is a way I can find out which stage of the startup of driver causes the freeze, I could test it. Monitor does not show too much, only the basic install messages... Isnt there such a version of the driver that tries to do diags at install ? |

Installed kxdrv3538-full and then kxdrv3538g-update afterwards. After this latter was installed, I went to the installed app dir and started 3538\setup.exe to install the driver. Recognised as SB0360, but of course that did not work.
Tried the 0090, 0400 and xxxx and some others, but same results... Last edited by willzy; Jan 3, 2005 at 02:55 AM. |

MIDI I/O -> NO
Soundfont -> YES For MIDI, any USB adapter would work... |

Any Recent Developments?
The latest, unpacked Creative driver download (2.02.0002) is a ridiculous ~50 MB in size. I only installed the drivers (no need to install additional bloatware) and am anxiously awaiting kX support!

we need anybody with kernel-level debugger installed (and ZS Notebook, of course)
also please watch any news on the linux side -- alsa project might add workaround/hack for zs notebook -- we could integrate it in some way to kX when it is out E. |

debugging tools, ok
-- what are the resources used for the card? [control panel -> device manager] I don't know if pcmcia boards are pci-compatible or not or if they require any special initialization / resource re-mapping... E. |

Here are the resources:
CONTROL PANEL (as in everest it does not show up under PCI devices): PCI bus 87, device 0, function 0 EVEREST: Device Properties: Driver Description Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM) Driver Date 2004.11.18. Driver Version 5.12.10.1042 Driver Provider Creative INF File oem50.inf Hardware ID PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0008&SUBSYS_20011102&REV_00 Device Resources: IRQ 11 Port FCC0-FCFF The IRQ11 is shared... I don't think these will help much... |

As a matter of fact, IRQ11 is shared with lots of devices:
IRQ 11 Shared AC97 SoftV92 Data Fax Modem with SmartCP IRQ 11 Shared Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet IRQ 11 Shared Ricoh R/RL/5C476(II) or Compatible CardBus Controller IRQ 11 Shared Ricoh R/RL/5C476(II) or Compatible CardBus Controller IRQ 11 Shared Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM) IRQ 11 Shared Realtek AC'97 Audio IRQ 11 Shared Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C2 IRQ 11 Shared ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series |

I'm far from the necessary knowledge to answer this. If it does not show up under PCI devices, I suspect it is not as true PCI device as might be needed...

>> Port FCC0-FCFF
that's good news -- the card uses the same I/O port range as regular audigy2 pci bus # -- well, this might be the reason for the issue since kX driver might be accessing the bus in a different way. as soon as 3538 'final' is out, please remind me to create a custom version of kx.sys for your a2zs notebook E. |

Not dead thread... We're waiting for Eugene to release 3538 final & custom version of kx.sys so people could test Audigy2zsNotebook...
