Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook - PCMCIA soundcard

seeing as PCMCIA is the PCI interfect on a notebook, chances are that it has the 10k2 chip… if it does, and i get a laptop - this is on the list of components

Hello:

first post, BTW

Just been looking at the a-2 zs notebook version, and very happy to read in the post above that it is a 10k2; Does anyone know whether kx will work with this, or whether they plan to support it? I am looking for a card for my notebook, and absolutely hate the idea of being without my Kx so I just about flipped when I found this card.
If this has been posted about already, I wonder if somone could post a link? I have searched but this is the closest I have found, and it's nov. 3 now.
Thanx to all

I suspect that Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA is just another 'creative's piece of junk!

As fahr as i saw, it has only 1 (ONE!) Line-In/Mic-In/Optical-In, COMBINED AS SINGLE JACK!

Headphone/Optical-Out is also combined...

There's only one more additional connector wich is called 'Spekaer Docking Cable Jack' !?!

dj_stick:

Should i send you a picture of this crap? i think you should post it here...

hmm.
well, I hope it's not a dissappointment.
Can anyone tell me about a card, pc card (for notebook - not pci) or external, that has similar flexibility to the Kx project drivers? I am gettnig the feeling that, unless I go for some super expensive dsp-farm of an interface that there just isn't anything that competes with Kx.
Anyway, I will have another look at the a-2 zs notebook version, and see if it is as useable as I at first thought.
And a big thanx to anyone who can tell me more about this, as well as thanx to those who have replied already.
cheerz.

i managed to find this 'prototype' manual for the Audigy2 ZS NOTEBOOK...

http://files.creative.com/manualdn/M...BBC/MANUAL.chm

If only i could win this card on lottery, rip it open, and find out all these f'kin inputs wich this card SHOULD HAVE & inform kX users that A2 ZS NOTtoEBetOOK!

it seems the card only has one line in/mic/spdif (which is standard)
any internal inputs that the PCI cards have are useless due to notebook design…

are you saying this card supports the kx drivers but its not possible to route internal I/O's?
so..
sending my FXbus output directly to the epilog asio input for playback recording is no longer possible?

Please help, this is an essential feature for me

thanx in advance!

if it is kX compatible, then DSP routing would still work
what i was talking about was using headers like AD_EXT, TAD, CD_IN CD_SPDIF etc

I think it will use same chip as Audigy 2 Value - new chip - for now not compatible with kx (diffrent pci id). I don't think creative will make this new chip only for low end card as Audigy 2 Value.

Audigy 2 value isn't low-end, when compared to the LS/ES and the Live! 24 bit

Audigy 2 ZS NoteBook

Great news, For (we) notebook users, a non expensiv, 24bit/asio2 card is out.

I think that tha old 10k2 chip is used also in that PCMCIA device.....

The question is: Can We Expect compatibility of Kx on that "wonderful" A-card ?

I don't think so. I think new CA-0108 chip is used (used in Audigy 2 Value too), but we will know this if someone buy this card and give as PCI ID of it. CA-0108 is very similiar to Audigy 2 chip, but needs special initialization. And it depends on kx developpers how fast it will be supported in kx.
