I was able to get the sound working on ths card (SB0400) by disabling the mixer at startup. However my purpose of using this software was to create 3 virtual sound cards for use in Home Automation.
Although I now get sound from the card - all three outouts are recieving the sound at the same time - I have to now manually start the mixer and then switch front and back speakers to get the 3 virtual cards. Manual intervention is not possible. I assume that this is due to this specific sound card. I feel that it may be best to return this card and get one that is know to work with this software. -- Can you recommend a specific model number that is in current production ? I found something interesting - adjusting 'Analog Front', 'Analog Rear', 'Analog Center' and 'Analog Subwoofer' volume in kxMixer (the Ins 'n' Outs section) does not have any effect on the sound. Could there be a problem with my DSP routings or is this a problem with the A2 Value and kX driver?
Another thing is muting the 'Generic S/PDIF Out' on the same section in kxMixer - it mutes the Front speakers. Swap Front and Rear also does not have any effect at all; the front out on the card is always the front out no matter if front and rear are swapped or not. |

>> I found something interesting - adjusting 'Analog Front', 'Analog Rear', 'Analog
>> Center' and 'Analog Subwoofer' volume in kxMixer (the Ins 'n' Outs section) does >> not have any effect on the sound interesting... this means the DSP outputs/inputs are not used the same way generic 'a2' uses them I will post a 'custom' version of kX Mixer in order to solve '--startup' issue as for further tests, please open kX DSP, clear it, upload FXBus 0, start audio playback through 'wave 0/1', upload 'stvol', connect it to fxbus 0,1; upload 'epiloglt_k2', connect stvol to each epiloglt_k2 output and watch any changes in sound output (it should move to the corresponding speaker -- analog, digital and so on...) please write down any changes compared to the information found here: http://www.kxproject.com/io.php Eugene |

First of all, when i clear DSP the sound still plays thru front speakers (don't know if this is the default behaviour so I'm telling it).
This is what i was able to figure out (I always hear front speakers playing so I can't tell you on which out they are connected): [4002] spdif1_l analog center [4003] spdif1_r analog woofer [4006] spdif3_l analog rear left [4007] spdif3_r analog rear right I do not have any digital equipment so I can't test the digital outs... BTW in the default DSP that I'm using the normal 'epilog' is present, not the 'epiloglt_k2' - could this be the problem for not-working speaker controls in Mixer? And another thing - I have saved the complete settings (DSP, automation, etc) before I started your test and when I load them after the test the --startup effect apeared (the sound is gone). Update: With some additional testing I found out that the 'Hardware' save/load makes the card go silent. Samo Vodopivec Last edited by lament; Dec 15, 2004 at 10:56 AM. |

thanks for information
note the new kxmixer.exe -- for your tests >>I always hear front speakers playing so I can't tell you on which out they are >> connected use 'wave 4/5' instead of 'wave 0/1' and let me know the results [this should help localizing front speakers] also, please post here full hardware/software info as shown by the driver. do you know if there's ac97 codec present? /E. |

I did the tests with the new kX mixer but I don't think they will help you (well, at least we know that mute really works)

Hi, I would be happy if kx drivers will work with using kx mixer at startup.
Now if kx mixer is running through startup, sound is off. This is , I think, important problem with these kx drivers. Thank you.

I am not sure if Eugene has this info:
1102:2007 -> Audigy4 Pro [SB0380] This may also be new: 1102:1006 -> Live! 7.1 24bit [SB0410] 1102:1007 -> Live! 7.1 24bit [SB0413] Dell OEM Both do not have AC97 chip (info from ALSA). Also this is funny: 1102:1005 -> AudigyLS [SB0310b] -- they say it says SB0310 on the card but the ID is different. And finally Eugene please take look at this. It may help you to get Audigy 2 Value working -- it needs some special config in order to work.

Quick fix for the muted card at windows startup: set the S/PDIF frequency in kx mixer to 96000.
