Sudden loss of sound, no indication

I have gone through the normal removal, with Driver Cleaner, of the old Creative drivers, and have installed the latest KX drivers. They work wonderfully, except that every hour or so, after I've played an mp3 or watched a movie, the sound will just disappear, and won't come back until I restart the computer. It is not a problem with turning on the 'mute' control... this is just a sudden loss of all outputs.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Just figured you'd want a few more details. I have an Audigy 2 PCI running Windows XP SP1, on an AMD chip with an ATI visual card.

No, sir... it just stops. As I said, there is no indication of any sound loss, no error messages, no crackles and beeps... it just stops working.

Thanks for your reply!

Hmm... 25, 26 degress? My cpu temp is 52 celcius and my MB core is 31... I sometimes have random reboots, but I don't think it's due to heat problems because I've had this cpu for 3 years now, and it's running well.

I was actually listening to music last night, and as the song changed to another in Winamp, it instead just made a loud, obnoxious blaring wailing sound, and would only stop once I turned the song off.
