The sound disappear after clicking button Yes on window of notification message about Reseting device settings. You can hear "ploom" noise, it`s same as in time when Windows starting on PC and activing sound card.

you should get some additional notifications before the sound disappears. are you sure you've updated kxmixer.exe properly? place it to windows\system32 folder [quit kX Mixer before updating it] E. |

The sound goes away after clicking OK on the first message ("about to mute..."). This isn't a surprise for me

good now, after reboot , make sure you hear the soundopen kx console [kxctrl --gui or in 'Console' command in the kx mixer menu] issue the following commands and watch the sound: shw 0 0 shw 2 1 shw 3 0 shw 4 0 [please note that the sound might move to rear speakers here] shw 4 1 [please note that the sound might move to rear speakers here] shw 5 0 shw 11 0 shw 12 0 shw 6 0 shw 19 0 shw 16 10f shw 17 1 if any particular command causes sound to disappear or any error message, let me know. if you manage to find the exact command that causes the sound to disappear, reboot and repeat the test without entering that particular command. The sound goes away after 'shw 2 1'. Here is the output from all the commands entered:
>shw 0 0 Error setting HW parameter >shw 2 1 HW Parameter 2 set to: 1 >shw 3 0 HW Parameter 3 set to: 0 >shw 4 0 HW Parameter 4 set to: 0 >shw 4 1 HW Parameter 4 set to: 1 >shw 5 0 HW Parameter 5 set to: 0 >shw 11 0 HW Parameter 11 set to: 0 >shw 12 0 HW Parameter 12 set to: 0 >shw 6 0 HW Parameter 6 set to: 0 >shw 19 0 HW Parameter 19 set to: 0 >shw 16 10f HW Parameter 16 set to: 10f >shw 17 1 HW Parameter 17 set to: 1 Now I have to reboot ![]() So after reboot I entered all the commands except the problematic one and the sound still plays (as I'm listening to stereo music via winamp I have made a custom DSP for it so all 6 outputs are comming directly from 4/5 device so I didn't notice the sound going rear-only). The command output is the same as above... P.S.: Eugene, did you maybe forget about this thread: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...t=62922&page=3 ? hmmm... that's very strange
please do the following: reboot, make sure the sound is o.k. now launch kxctrl --gui type: gp 40 write down the value ('value a') type shw 17 1 [sound might probably become muted] gp 40 write down the value now, in the kxmixer, 'reset settings' then type: sp 40 <value 'a'> does it restore sound? E. p.s. no, I haven't forgotten about that thread |

Little bit offtopic, but Eugene, how many significant p16v registers are there (other than register 40)? I'm interested in basic stuff, like changing output ferq, etc...

How to on sound after resetting device settings
I found interesting thing, I think:
After resetting device settings sound is off .And now, if I set in kX mixer Master SPDIF frequency from 48000 to 96000, sound is on ![]() If I set SPDIF freq to 48000, sound will be off

>gp 40
p16V[reg=40]=110000 >shw 17 1 HW Parameter 17 set to: 1 >gp 40 p16V[reg=40]=110000 Those three commands didn't affect the sound in any way (it was playing all the time). >sp 40 110000 wrote p16v: reg=40 val=110000 The command does not restore the sound. And I have to confirm what charlie421 said - if I set the S/PDIF Frequency in the mixer to 96000 the sound comes back. Samo Vodopivec |

it seems I misunderstood your prev. message
ok, now let's check: make sure the audio is playing back correctly open kxctrl --gui execute: gfn0 18 gptr 76 0 now reset settings now type 'sfn0 18 <the value displayed by prev. gfn0 18 command>' then type 'sptr 76 0 <the value displayed by prev. gptr 76 0 command>' check, whether sfn0 18, sptr 76 or both restore the sound (that is, try sfn0, then sptr; sfn0 only; sptr only etc.) E. |

I'm having some serious problems with my graphic card and it will be replaced next during the next week (at least I hope so) and then I'll make those tests and report results.

Only sfn0 18 <value> restore the sound.

3f60 is the magic number that restores the sound.

Looks, that someone do not read alsa source carefully. :-)
From alsa source: /* * Audigy 2 Value notes: * A_IOCFG Input (GPIO) * 0x400 = Front analog jack plugged in. (Green socket) * 0x1000 = Read analog jack plugged in. (Black socket) * 0x2000 = Center/LFE analog jack plugged in. (Orange socket) * A_IOCFG Output (GPIO) * 0x60 = Sound out of front Left. * Win sets it to 0xXX61 */ |

to lament, charlie 421:
thanks! I will need you to run more tests, but you will need to install original creative drivers and download a special version of the 'spy' utility. get http://www.kxproject.com/giveio.rar then get http://www.kxproject.com/spy_cmd.rar install CL drivers unpack all the files to the same folder copy giveio.sys to windows\system32\drivers folder run 'loaddrv', change the path to windows\system32\drivers\giveio.sys click 'install', 'start', quit 'loaddrv' after that, launch 'spy' you should see '>' prompt, if successful -- now just try 'gfn0 18' or smth like that in order to check if its working properly -- it should be quite similar to kxctrl commands [under CL drivers]: switch to 48kHz mode [spdif output frequency], execute 'gfn0 18', 'gfn0 14', 'gptr 76 0', 'gptr 5e 0', gptr 5f 0' -- write down the values you get switch to 96kHz mode, repeat the commands switch to 44.1kHz mode, repeat switch to 48kHz turn on spdif bypass, repeat turn it off turn 'digital output only' mode on, repeat turn off, repeat set recording source to 'line-in', start 24/96 audio recording, repeat the commands set recording source to 'cd-spdif', start 16/48 recording, repeat the commands -- I hope this will help me to make a2 value cards as functional as any other 10k1/10k2 hardware -------- to pzad: it seems someone wishes to discover the values required for 44.1, 48 and 96kHz just by meditating on "0x60 = Sound out of front Left" line, right? ![]() and, btw, 0x40 & 0x20 -- do you know the role for these bits? [when used separately?] and if there's a 'digital output only' switch or it is just a placeholder for DSP re-routings?.. etc.. etc.. heh... I guess people could have been a little bit more tolerant -- and use their energy for something useful, not just for self-assertion E. Last edited by Eugene Gavrilov; Jan 12, 2005 at 12:04 AM. |

All the settings have been changed thru Creative Audio Console (hope this is the right place to change things as I do not know CL drivers/apps very well). The results from chaning the "Digital output (PCM) sampling rate settings":
