Just asking is there any bug that the DSP doesn't seem to be applied even KXmixer is loaded, but the DSP is loaded only when the KXmixer taskbar icon is clicked to bring up the GUI?
I sort of felt something like that but it may be placebo.

No, the GUI does not need to be opened for the DSP effects to be applied.

Does the latest KX drivers support the newest SB Audigy 2 ZS or SB live (24bit) ? I read something on the KX pages that the Audigy2 ZS are not supported, yet. I am not sure if the information is still valid. Other thing is that I've got information that the new SB live 24 bit is not based on the EMU 10 k.. something like that.
Thank you for advice Best Regards Pavel Vrsecky |

Hi!
Thanks for the 3538H version, works great! Only thing is: the volume updating bug isn't fixed. It's very irritating, that when you for example mute the volume with use of a multimediakeyboard, it mutes the Master Volume (of course), but doesn't update the status in the register correctly (someone figured that out in another thread). If you mute the mastervol and then for example start internetexplorer and visit a website, the mute is reset to play again, but without updating the status on kxmixer (systray) and the speakericon of windows (systray). This happens with most apps using sounds and thus resetting whatever kxmixer set the mastervolume to. I hope it can be resolved soon, as this is (for me) the only one really annoying bug... Thanks again for all your hard work, keep it up ! Michiel |

I have a suggestion to improve the driver for the next release. I don't know how easy it is to do. It would be great if Eugene can implement it in the 3538i release.
Here is what happen : If the mixer gui is not in the task bar, you doubleclick on the icon in the system tray and the mixer appears on top of all the other windows and it is put in the task bar. That's ok. If the mixer gui is in the task bar and maximised but not on top of the other windows, if you doubleclick on the icon on the system tray, the mixer gui will get on top of the other windows. That's ok too. If the mixer gui is in the task bar but minimised, if you doubleclick on the icon in the system tray, nothing happens. The mixer gui stays minimized. What I would like is for the mixer gui to get maximised and put on top of the other windows when you doubleclick on the system tray icon when it is minimised. That applies to all the windows of the driver that can be opened from the tray icon (Mixer, DSP, Router, Editor, Automation, remote, soundfont, plugin settings windows). It would be great. I often found myself clicking on the DSP menu and doubleclicking on plugins settings and nothing happened because the windows were already opened but minimized. |

Hi all,
I have exactly the same problem : from times to times, but only when playback a big project in Cubase (I never get BSOD when Cubase is idle). I thought, it was due to a hardware problem because It never happenned before I upgrade. Anyway, it's very rare. ----Hardware / Software configuration--------------- Nom du pilote:kX Audio Driver (Debug) Date du pilote: Dec 21 2004 05:59:43 Version du pilote: 5.10.00.3538 - debug Nom de l'extension:EDrive EMUAPS [c000] PCI Information: Device: 21102 Subsys: 40011102 ChipRev: 5 Card has MPU device Card is EMU APS Card HAS NO AC97 codec Port: c000 Irq: 0xa(10) Playback buffer: 20a0 Record buffer: 4000 Number of AC3 buffers: 4 Tank memory: 256 kb GSIF buffer: 256 samples OS version: [2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 156 148]

There is a bug with the mixer. If I mute the sound, it displays inF. That's correct.
If I close the mixer by clicking on the X and reopen the mixer, the volume is displayed instead of inF. The sound is still muted so it should display inF. |

I have

I would like to try not loading the icon/driver... Is there an easy way to avoid loading the icon/driver as it seems it may be a compatibility problem of some kind (where under Regedit do I have to remove a key?) I got all sounds to work once when the driver didn't finish loading in the system tray Thanks a lot for making this Audigy card work under Win 98 as Creative Labs seems to not want support there own product. My guess is they don't make enough money

Hi guys, since i didn't like to copy manually the files of the 3538h update i made a self-extracting archive that does the job for me.
If anybody wants to download it a try here u can download from my web site: http://www.radiocolonel.it/files/kx3538h.exe i hope somebody finds it useful.

3538h.rar update. Since it was necessary copy them manually in the folder \system32\ and than the kx.sys in a subfolder called \drivers\ i made this self extracting archive that copies them for me so i don't mess up things in those folders. I used it lots of time and is fine, it does not do bad things! |

yep, this might help you:
install ASIO4ALL. Configure KX ASIO to your desired needs. Configure ASIO4ALL. Use ASIO4ALL as the ASIO driver not KX, this will correct some incorrect uses of ASIO calls from the software... drop a note if it works for you this (I use it this way for playback with the i version and works flawlessly) P.S. don't use the h version for ASIO |

Adi111p thank you for the help. I tried before i wrote the post with the Asio4all. I knew about the program. THe problem is that i had a good driver, and the asio4all worked. but i came home after and it didn't worked.. i think it is from my sound card drivers... i think it could help me, if u would say what version of drivers do u use.. (if u have a sb live) i tried 5-6 drivers. Now i installed the 3537 and when i want to select the asio support the computer restarts. I think i'll have to reinstall the windows, when i'll have time.. Thanks for ur answer.

I have a question that I have seen asked several times on different forums, but in the end no one really comes up with an answer. I was hoping that someone might have tested if there is a way you can get the A2V card to accept digital input. Most A2V ads say that this card will accept S/PDIF input but then hides that it requires an add-on bracket or module to accept digital input. But only the UK still seems to sell these units. I didn't read about the add-on module until after I got the card.
I am still attempting to go from a Tascam recorder's coxial digital (24-bit 44.1)out into the miniplug on the A2V's digital I/O port. That required a cheap RCA mono to miniplug adaptor. I tried this approach with both the Creative and the KX 3538i drivers several times and no sound came through the sound card no matter how KX was configured. So definitely this Creative phantom-product must be required to do something with the signal. Is there a fairly cheap way to get the A2V to accept digital without having to replace it? I know I can use something like a Yamaha UW10 USB interface or Audiophile 2496 for about $100 USD, but thought that I might be overlooking something and be able to salvage the card. Any information would definitely be appreciated. Thanks, Stan |

AFAIK - you HAVE to connect to the AUD_EXT connector on the card - OR use CD-SPDIF - but cable lengths start becomming a problem.
USE RCA connectors intended for video - I use one that ~20' long (24bit/44khz) regularly. But I connect that to the Drive Bay IO SPDIF IN. BUT - I beleive the Drive bay IO conditions this signal before its sent to A2 card. Im thinking signal levels are different. |
