Thanks dj_stick!
For all your help with getting the mic to work.
Reading the past threads on people's problems with this specific area, helped me to clear up my non-working mic. Had a bit of a snag with my settings not being saved on reboot despite saving my settings but got that cleared up eventually. I had disabled the kX Manager at startup and it looks like it needs to be active to load the saved settings. I'd just like to suggest that you modify your guide for the mic setup as I noticed that lots of people seem to report problems with hearing themselves on their own speakers when they talk. I was having this same problem myself despite following your guide to the letter. I saw that you suggested in several threads that they try the whole prolog-epilog re-routing thingy, but all that I did to eliminate this problem was to mute the AC-97 slider in the Ins and Outs Page. In the last part of your guide, you actually suggest that this be unmuted from the default mute setting. Perhaps you could put something in there about muting it again if you want to resolve the issue of hearing yourself when you try to talk over any kind of VoIP application (not talking about feedback as I use a headset + mic). Thanks again! |
