??? Use as Multi Zone Audio Driver?

OK, I may be in over my head here. This driver looks really cool and you can do some amazing stuff, but I just wanted it to do something simple. Maybe I just don't understand what this is really used for. Here is what I want to do, can some one tell me if it is possible?

I have a whole house audio system. I want to be able to play different music in each room from my computer. Rather than buy 4 different sound cards I thought I could use this driver to make my SoundBlaster Live! card look like 4. I could then run 4 instances of a music player each one attached to a different "sound device" and I would have music in every room!

I installed the driver OK, and it seems to be working. I see 4 different devices. When I choose a different device the sound still comes from the main speaker out jack though. I figured that each jack would have sound coming out for each device?

Maybe I just need to configure it differently? Or is this something that I just can't do? Any pointers on how to achieve this would be much appreciated!

With a SBLive 5.1 and kX you can get 3 stereo signals coming out.
Front=Wave 4/5, Rear=wave 6/7 and center/sub=Wave 8/9.
You have to build your own DSP set-up. Start from an empty DSP by right clicking and clear.
Load 3 of the Src plug ins and the k1lt from the Pro FX menu. Assign each Src to a different device by double clicking and choose from the drop down menu, FXbus 4/5, etc.

Run some wires from each Src to the k1lt and choose the outputs from the k1lt menu. This is all assuming your card is a Live 5.1 of course.

All you need to do is tell your audio player which device to use and that's it.
You can add gains and other effects in between your connections for more control, or use some of the mixers available. It's all up to you.

thats a cool idea, i wondered when someone was gonna try it. Just avoid assigning output to 0/1 as this is surround ouput..

Thumbs Up!

OK, I got this to work! Thanks Peate. One issue thougth, it may be a bug?

I put on a src device and the k1lt device on as you said. I then set the src device to be the 4/5 input and hooked it up to the kt1lt. I then set winamp to use the 4/5 sound device.

I only got sound out of one speaker. I then set the src to the 2/3 device then sound came out of the other speaker! Even from my little understanding of how this all works, I don't think it is suppsed to work that way.

I used the FXbus device instead and was able to have the 4/5,6/7, and 8/9 devices all play out different outputs! This is exactly what I wanted! Thank you.

Now I just need to figure out how to launch mulipul versions of winamp. I gusss that is a different forum though!

That's very strange indeed. Are you using direct sound as output in Winamp?
Look under Options, General preferences and there's choice to allow multiple instances; just put a tick mark there.
