Two Mono SPDIF to stereo SPDIF adaptor

Hi everyone

Does anyone of you, (specially you TravelRec ) know if is possible to join two mono SPDIF outputs into a stereo SPDIF output? perhaps using any kind of adaptor or whatever... They come from two Behringer mono preamps with digital out, and I would like to plug them into the Audigy 2 CD digital input.

Thank you in advance.

I taught S/PDIF is stereo only?!? But if these preamps really output mono only, you can use your card itself to mix these signals through two separate S/PDIF inputs -> DSP -> regular S/PDIF stereo output?!? You can allways try & see what happends...

good luck Nando!

Hi Samir, thanks for you reply! Yes, SPDIF is stereo, but in this case obviously there is just one signal coming out to both channels, or simply one of them is empty. And I also would like to connect it to an upcoming emu 1212m, which only have one coaxial input (apart from the analogs).

Regards,
Nando

System Specs

you might have to keep your kX card in the system to mix the digital signals and then send the stereo signal to the emu card

Thank you Chris! Yes, that is a good idea, and it gives me the chance to keep on using kX. Do you think that it could have quality loses during the proces? I mean is the Audigy s/pdif good enough to plug it into the emu? The reason for buying it is just to get better converters, and actually I've never tried the digital in/outs of the Audigy2.

You know what I'm gonna do? I will wait to see what happens with the digital in/outs from the audigy before buying the emu. (I'll have one the preamps tomorrow morning). And I'll try what Samir told me. If the quality is enough there is no reason to change at the moment. Also 3538 is coming soon with many good changes and I couldn't keep my hands out from them

Thank you both

Nando
