Support for 64-Bit Windows?
Apparently the 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows 2003 have been released to the manufacturers, so I'm wondering if perhaps a 64-bit build of the kX drivers would be possible as well.
I'm sure many people, including myself, would be willing to help test any 64-bit builds. |

Yeah, right.
We pay a so high monthly support fee for the kx driver that they really should relase this stuff soon.

there is no 64bit version planned, no matter how many people ask for it - eugene is only one person and developing a 64bit version would need a lot of time and a 64bit cpu (which he doesn't have afaik). so unless you're not able/willing to help in programming, don't ask for it.

I dont believe he can do that actually (legal licensing reasons; creative would kill/sue him)

Well, in Assembly you can work with (older) SoundBlaster cards without even having a driver installed for it.
If kx breaks some Creative patents, they would already have sued him. But they havn't, I hope. Everybody can write his own hardware driver if he likes to and is able to. Don't really see a problem here. If kx is a clean and legal project, there is nothing to fear. |

Eugene has signed several non-disclosure agreements about certain coding for the 10kX series cards, so he cannot make it completely open source
however he is contemplating a higher degree of open-source than is offered currently atm only the DSP is open source… but in the future…
