exclamation Audigy 2 ZS (SB0350) crosstalk with kX

Hello,
I have Audigy 2 ZS SB0350 and I have just installed kX 3538h. I am using default DSP setup and I have some sort of stereo crosstalk. When I play any sound from whatever player or program and disconnect front left channel from the epilog I still hear weak sound from left speaker or earpiece. Same goes for the right channel. I had the same problem with kX 3537 and I believe I mentioned it in some of the threads here but at that time Audigy 2 ZS still wasn't officialy supported so it wasn't investigated.

Here is what I suggest everyone having Audigy 2 ZS and kX to test:

First, check out this picture:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12...eak/dspbug.gif

With left channel disconnected like shown in the picture I still have sound on left speaker or in left earpiece. It is not the same volume like the connected channel. It is more like 5-10% of the magnitude of the right channel. Loud enough to notice it even if you are hard on ears.

I am kindly asking everyone having Audigy 2 ZS to follow testing procedure described below and post your findings.

I have gone even further -- I have tried to clear the DSP and to use only ProFX src and kxlt and the crosstalk is still there!

I have also tried custom made output plugin with just one stereo output made by Russ for testing (check it out here if you want) and the crosstalk is still there!

Now this was with "swap front and rear" deactivated -- I was listening through the front output of the card.

As LeMury suggested I have also tried listening through the rear output (driver default) and it is still the same -- I still have that damn crosstalk.

So once again -- testing procedure:
1. Load default DSP setup
2. Play something at sufficient volume (say more than half)
3. Disconnect left channel from the epilog

What happens:
1. You still hear some sound from left channel

What should happen:
1. Left channel should be silent

Additional steps:
1. Disconnect right channel from the epilog

What happens:
1. Now both channels are silent

I just want to say before someone starts asking that I have checked all my audio equipment, cables and connections and everything is in perfect order.

Please help.

igor: i will post my results here when i can test tonight.

This is quite strange imo, haveyou had the chance to test the exact same audio gear with another soundcard, or another audigy 2 zs card (to rule out card damage)?

Also try directly with headphones so you can begin to workout wear the problem lies

EDIT: i see the image, but the yahoo link appears to be broken

Hi Igor,

I tested it on two different PC's with Audigy 2 ZS (SB0350) with default setup and ProFX and I was not able to reproduce the effect you are talking about.

Hi

Have you tested this with RMAA?

Among other valuable tests RMAA measures 'cross talk' too.

If this prog is not familiar to you, you find it here http://audio.rightmark.org/index_new.shtml from and there is also some instructions of setting audigy for measurement.

jp

EDIT:

!! AND IF YOU, OR ANYONE ELSE DOES RMAA TESTING USING KX DRIVERS,

- do it fully (16-bit and 24-bit (44.1kHz, 48kHz and 96kHz))
- and

PLEASE POST or LINK RESULTS TO HERE !!

Hi Igor!

Have had the same problem yesterday after using kxlt from ProFX and adding Epilog just for testing. The Result was an unexpected routing of the outputs and exactly what you´ve described - even sound when disconnected. Only way to fix that was to reset the driver settings to default and reloading the corrected DSP settings (so don´t use kxlt and Epilog together in one setup). Now everything is okay again.
