any way to set individual speaker properties?
Hi,
i was about to replace my dvd-player/sat-receiver/surroundpreamp-combo with a HTPC (Home Theatre PC). So i bought the Audigy 2 and startet playing around. After reading some forums i quickly found out that theres something wrong with the subwoofer/bass management of the card. It was said that this a hardware bug. I instantly went *AHHHHHHHRGH* since im totally bass-addicted. But having the Card here i played around a litte and found that with the kX-drivers the Subwoofer outputs works! But my journey hasnt come to an end yet. What i would like to know: is there a way to apply an individual equalizer settings to each of the surround speakers? my (active) center and rear speaekers are rather small and i have the impression they get the full bass load which its far too much for them to handle (wasnt a problem with my 8 years old Technics DD/DTS preamp). On the other hand, my fronts a very capable of bass, and i would like to give them the full bass load, despite having a subwoofer, means the fronts and the sub have to get the full bass load (since like i said, im bass addicted ). Would be nice if i could play around with the phase of bass too ...Is this all possible with the DSP? since it looks rather complicated i thought i ask first before starting to play around with it for days and eventually find out its impossible. btw: the original creative drivers can decode DTS, is this in the work for kS too? how about the 7.1 support? many thanks in advance, your bass-addict, phibes |

Hi and welcome to kx
![]() Yes it is possible to use a seperate equalizer for each speaker. And there are enough plugIns that deal with bass redirection, so you have individual settings for this too. I enourage you to read through Help/FAQ first, then you will see that the DSP is not as complicated as it first looks. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask

Thanks John,
ich figured it out, its a pleasure to play around with it and tweak it to the best sound ![]() But ... the 'Stereo Mix + Gian' function seems to be buggy, when playing with the gain an incredible loud noise appeard and after that i had to replace the fuses in my power-amp, but it survived *g* ... Thanks again

Gain is not buggy - if you raise volume using a gain or volume plugin you have to make sure, that it does not exceed 0 dB otherwise the sound will get distorted. Use Peak Meter to keep values below 0 dB. It's better to raise volumes of your speaker, than within kx.

thanks for the hint with the peakmeter.
When i conenct one to the output of the surrounder-unit, without any other units in between, i already get positive values. Is there something wrong? |

check the kX mixer, have you increased any of the volumes there?
if so decrease them to below 0.0dB

no there's nothing wrong with that, but if you use an equalizer for example with rock preset, then you raise volume of certain frequencies by 6 db. So it would be wise to lower the volume first by 6 db.
