Audigy Mic Problems

I have my headphones plugged into the headphone jack in the sound card and have a 3.5mm mic plugged into the mic jack in the card, but i cant seem to get it to work at all. Are there certain measures i have to set in the mixer for a mic to work?

System Specs

Are you trying to record the mic or hear the mic through the headphones.

To hear through the front speakers jack, click on the mixer the In 'n' Outs tab, unmute AC97 on the bottom left and raise the volume.

To record the mic, click on the mixer Recording tab, unmute AC97 on the bottom left and raise the volume.

For both, you need to select Mic in the AC97 section of the mixer. You can click on boost to add 20 dB of amplification to the mic.

You say headphones jack. Do you mean the front jack? On the cards there is usually the front and the back speakers jacks. AC97 is usually directed to the front jack. If 'swap front and rear mode' is selected in the mixer, the front and the rear jacks are swapped and the mic signal is sent to the rear jack.
