SB0162 Live!Drive II not detected but partially working.

Hello

I would appreciate some advice from any knowledgable person! Thanks in advance.

I have had a working CT4760+Live!Drive II setup on one computer for some time using kX 3537 drivers and all is well.

I decided to change the CT4760 for an SB0162 (Audigy ES?) hoping it would be a plug in replacement with extra DSP potential, unfortunately things haven't worked out as I hoped.

Here are some facts:

The kX about dialog does not show a Live Bay being detected.

The 2nd UART, optical out and headphone outputs are working on the bay.

The optical output takes some time and twiddling with the spdif freq combobox to allow an external device to sync to it. The external device is a DMX 6fire.

The inputs are not functioning at all, the one which I require most being AUX2 In.

The advice I am looking for is whether this should work or not, also if it should work how do I get the kX drivers to recognise that the bay is there and the inputs to function.

If you suspect a hardware fault somewhere along the line, then all I can say is that the CT4760+bay combo has worked flawlessly for years with creative and kX drivers, yet the SB0162 is a 2nd hand addon recently purchased.

Thanks

Hi

I have hardly conlucded much yet from the forums I can ascertain that the aux2 input is tied to an I2S input of which there appear to be three:

>kxctrl -istat

spdif 1: 2109204 / 0
spdif 2: 2109204 / 0
spdif freq: 48000
p16v rec: 0

i2s 0/2 are in state ! which I will assume means broken and in need of repair, i2s 1 seems to be stable. i have no idea what these inputs represent nor how to go about investigating them, does anyone have an idea, or am i barking (mad?) up the wrong tree?

Cheers

i2s 0 & i2s2 should be LiveDriveII LineIn2/MicIn2 & Aux2 inputs... i2s 1 input serves additional ADC (Philips) found only at Audigy1 & Audigy2 card series... If i2s 0 & i2s2 doesn't work than you might need to hardware mod your LiveDriveII...

Review this thread & especially post #111...

good luck!

Hi Samir.

I have read that thread as I have an audigy 2 zs which spends its life beeping in games and doing mundane things such as that.

This card I am talking about is an old (2001) audigy 1 (ES?) which I assumed was not the same, but I am happy to be told otherwise as this would clear things up.

Cheers
