Can I connect a SbLive AUD_EXT SPDIF_OUT to audigy2 CD_SPDIF in directly?

I just got a SbLive CT4830, and I don't know if I can connect one of it's SPDIF_OUT in AUD_EXT directly to the audigy2 CD_SPDIF.

Since I have an Audigy2 frontal drive attached I must connect it to the CD_SPDIF connector.

I have a SPDIF cable that will fit perfectly in the CT4830 AUD_EXT pins, but I'm not much into this electronics thing, so in a very simple way, if this is possible to do, please check my little mspaint work and tell me where should the black and white wires of the SPDIF cable go to in AUD_EXT.

I hope TravelRec doesn't mind that I used material in his site for doing this.

Thanks!

In audigy 2, 1 is ground and 2 is SPDIF_IN

I have connected 1 -> 18 and 2-> 17

But I can't hear a thing, even changing the settings in the mixer and DSP for both...

This setup works fine for me, it is really the same as you describe above

The SPDIF cable is connected at the CT4830 Send Card,
to Pin 17 (white conductor-SPDIF#0 out),
Pin 18 (black conductor-Gnd).

The SPDIF cable terminates in the CD-SPDIF connector
of the SB0090 Host card (black cable to the left).

These are the mixer settings that I originally had that worked for me. I copied this next part from a text file that I made. I think that I had 2 CT4830s in my recording computer at the time. Make sure that you select your Audigy card in the ASIO control panel and make sure your Audigy card is selected in the Windows control panel for Playback and Recording.

Hi!

No problem for using material from my site, itīs free!
Check on Audigy 2 for incoming SPDIF signal, right click kX-tray ->settings ->SPDIF/I2S status. The signal should be around 48000Hz and R;S;V flags should be set. If thereīs a digital stream, you have to set-up the DSPs of both of the card correctly to transmit and receive the needed sound.

Aah, many thanks! The problem was in the CD digital fader, I was looking for something that said SPDIF.

The CT4830 has no SPDIF out frequency setting, I suppose it's going at 48000 khz as well.

Everything is working now!

Hey, cool! If you are familiar with the DSP things one day, you can switch over to make all your settings in DSP using the ProFX - they give you full access to all inputs and outputs and you have all faders and switches (with automation) in the DSP-plugins itself - so you donīt need kX-mixer anymore.

I was messing around with src and got that message "xxx has encountered a problem and needs to shut down"... hum, too bad.

I don't wan't to seem lazy, but my live DSP setup is very simple. Basically I have the prolog, xrouting and the epilog.

I have a midi automated APS everb aplied to my aux2 keyboard analog signal an soft synth's ASIO out, whose amount of reverb I control thru kx automation while playing live.

My Sblive handles the backing sequences (in wav format) played by other software thru MME drivers, and it's signal goes "dry" along with the APS everb processed signal to a Stereo mixer.

If there's something you thing it can be done in a different way feel free to comment, any help is welcome.

I might want to get rid of xrouting in this setup, from what I understood I do that with src?

my setup while playing live:

(if it doesn't show up copy and past the above link to your browser)

I LOVE KX!

Problems with ProFX? What is your driver version and what is your OS? X-routing can be substituted by some src-plugins and a mixer, like MX6 or each other. Then you will loose all kX-mixer sliders, but you can change every level in the DSP-plugin - and you can automate them with MIDI-cc-messages.

I have kx 3537 final and WinXP. Not sure what caused the error anyway, I was running different apps.

Hum, replaced xrouting with one src with asio out and it's working fine now.

idiot question: Will that save some DSP power or it's the same thing?

Using some src and output plugins like k2lt (k1lt) and asio will save some gprs used in the xrouting, so it may free up ressources if you only apply what you need. The new ProFX-package (compiled for 3538 only!), give you even more flexibility, but do also use some ressources. If you donīt want to switch around between DSP and kX-mixer, itīs a better deal to tweak everything in the DSP using the ProFX and the needed other plugins.
