Help! I cant get SPDIF Passthru to work =(
Anyone got any ideas why it doesnt work? I know it worked before when I tried the KX drivers, like a year ago or so. The strange thing is that I get the AC3DECODE popup thingy but my reciever doesnt detect the signal so I get stereo only. It worked flawlessy with the otherwise crappy Creative drivers :/
EDIT: Nevermind, all of a sudden the passthru just works..

Well, your post is a bit confusing -
SPDIF passthru (I'll assume you meant AC3 passthru) and AC3 decoding are 2 totally seperate subjects. 'AC3 Pass through' is FOR ROUTING AC3 encoded signals OUT directly to a SPDIF port - bypassing the DSP. AC3 Decoding on the other hand - will decode that signal and route each channel to its associated speaker (analog OR digital) outputs. - The signals (assuming KX WAVEHQ is the windows default Playback device) - are available on the P16V (Audigy only) or FXBus (depends on KX router - default is 4/5 front - 6/7 rear - and 8/9 Center/LfE) I find playing with settings on the SOURCE (like on my DVD, I can set to Dolby or PCM) And turning ON/OFF AC3 DECODE in KX will get things 'get out of sync' momentarily - Like thers a time delay happening when making changes - but I changed setting again before last change was accepted/realized = out of sync and weird things may happen. I just make sure my settings are correct BEFORE - and all is good for me. |

Sorry for the confusing writing
![]() I dont know how to make it more understandable, the only thing I know is that the SPDIF passthru so my stereo decode the sound instead. The problem is prolly same before, when I have reinstalled windowsxp the spdif passthru doesnt work in the kx drivers but then all of a sudden it started working, I dont know if I changed some options or if the drivers are buggy on spdif? Its the same problem now, the stereo wont feel the spdif passthru so I dont get AC3/DTS sound in the DVD movies ![]() The strange thing is that the spdif/ac3/dts passthru always right away perfectly with the creative drivers.. thats the only good thing about those drivers ![]() You got any ideas`? EDIT: I mean spdif/ac3/dts passthru EDIT2: can it be the codecs? I dont think so because I use the same ones as I did before.. Ill try windvd and powerdvd but the last time I had this problem I also tried them and it didnt work anywhere but when it started working all of a sudden it worked in every player.

What are your settings in kx mixer? If you are getting the AC3 Decode popup, then it sounds like AC3 passthru is OFF. Click the toggle AC3 passthru combobox and choose one of the SPDIF options.
