Hey guys, I did a search but no answer to this question, info in kx site says the CT4830 is A OEM Live!..so exactly what does that mean..how many speakers does it support?..I am asking because A freind has one for sale and I am wondering if it is worth picking up or not. I probably will get it because it's a 10K1..etc but I was Just wondering what this card can do...I currently use a SB102 Live! 5.1 DE But I am not expect this other card is a match for the one I have right now..anyway guys thanks for the info you may give me..

My card is detected as CT4832 but I think that it may be a CT4830. I tried to see if the digital output worked before by connecting a 4 pole cable to the digital out and connecting the other end to speakers. I was careful of not setting the volume too high. If something came out, it would have meant that the digital out worked. I thought that since there was a digital out jack on the card, it should be working. I played with the settings of the drivers (digital output only) and I tried to play DVDs. I could not get a signal out of the digital out jack. I did not have a receiver to test on.
From my personnal experience, the digital out does not work. I don't have any info that says if it should work or not. Someone else might have some a more definitive answer. Only 14 asio in work. The rear and front analog jacks work so you can use 4 speakers. |

Don't know if this is of any use, but I also have a CT4830, and although I haven't tried the digital out jack, the digital out works in the AUD_ext conector (onboard pins), I'm using it connected to my Audigy 2 right now.

I do not know if this helps, but a quick search brings up the following link with specifications:
http://support.packardbell-europe.co...t4830.asp?c=ap According to those specs, it looks as though it supports 4 speakers only (analog and digital). |

BTW: You mentioned your friend was selling it. I cannot imagine it being worth more than like $10 (for an old used OEM card) at most.

CT4830 is a 4-channel card, named as "Live! Player 1024" or "Live! Value 2"
It's 3.5mm digital out jack has 2 SPDIF outputs. |

Actually, I told him what the card actually was....he thought it was a 5.1 like mine ..so he just gave it to me....So I guess I can still use it for something..maybe some internal patching got another line in now..etc..and it has a 10K1 so..for free that's alright..

You could use the new card to add more inputs to your computer if you need it.

I'll use the internal digital pins and patch it up..I guess you can never have too many line in's especially when it's free and hey it has a 10K1....

Peace!
The Spdif Jack out works just fine at my 4830. I have run a 4830 card with spdif out connected to a 4620 with Ext.Card for six months and never had any problems. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/images/s...big%20grin.gif |
