Sad "Mixer not supported" message

This might not be your fault but in my BorgTV 2.1 used to control my BT8x8 Apac ViewComp (that uses rather primitive mono to mono cable that goes into line-in or mic-in on the sound card to transfer sound to the system.) volume control does not work.
Its implemented trough controling input level on the system's mic-in and whatever i sellect in "mixer" section fo the app its says "mixer not supported"... the main drawback is that the driver for the TVcard (and one of the few that actually dont crash with "Locked pages..." error in win2k) initializes sound on the card by default when booting but transfers the tuner to a random frequency - what do i care if i'm not watching the tv? the noise get transfered right to rear pair of my 5.1 for some screeching and hissing to wake a dead man up...
Now i know there is a solution burried in a DSP section or with a plugin (i guess routing my mic-in to my front speakers is easy enough) but i just cant seem to find anything related to controling the volume of a mic-in from an application like this... any help? Save me form using Youp Pax or god forbid Creative's Drivers...

kX does not use the windows mixer, which is what most TVcard programs tend to use. If possible disable your tv program's control over the windows mixer and adjust the sound levels from within the kX mixer

That's just the problem, setting input level in kx works but my remote control for my TV card and automatic "mute"/"unmute" function in the app is useless... bTV works like this... using the (non existant) mic-in control it unmutes the input from the card and when it shuts down it mutes it again, clean, and while btv isnt running, driver can for all i care perform all kinds of unholy things on a tuner as long as i dont hear it... when i set input levels in kx manually which works only trough AC97 mixer's Mic in, the input stays open when i close my app or even when i dont run it but then i hear the torment of the tuner on my rear speakers (btw, i tried messing around with DSP, didn't get me far, i guess i'll read the manual when all else fails)

What i would like to know, is there a plugin or some othere devious way of transfering control of a single component to windows mixer? note that mic-in is not even displayed in the mixer selection list (only kx wave 1/2 - 7/8 deemed "unsupported").
Will i be forced to familiarize myself with kx deeper than an average user might consider comfortable? )
