? about coaxial and optical
Hey guys, I don't use either just a question for a freind...If your card supports OPtical and Coaxial out and it a surround card..then doesn't the surround info go through the cozx or optical?..or is it always just a stereo signal? thx for the info guys..

I am not an expert on it, but I think it is stereo only (Surround information (if present) is encoded in the stereo stream, i.e. AC3, Dolby Digital).

The digital audio stream passes out from either the coaxial or optical outputs. The digital audio data stream can be mono, stereo, dolby digital 5.1, whatever...

Ok..so if my freind is using a coax cable to patch his card to a surround sound reciver then based on the card and what the content is it should be surround correct?...
