SPDIF recording squeal.

I searched the forums here and see a few hits concerning the SOD (squeal of Death) and suggests that HT was a potential (or known) cause.

I have a squeal that happens every now and then when using SPDIF input - not even recording just 'play along/monitoring'.

Situation - Using Sonar 4 - playing along to MIDI (HW synth w/ a soundfont) - Using the front panel SPDIF in (SB350 - A2zsPlat) I connect a guitar processor wit SPDIF out. - This happens even if sonar is not used and I just listen to the input.

It works fine for the most part, but every now and then - Like when I mute my strings, its will start to squeal. But no lock ups or anything, its momentary until I start playing again - it will stop and be fine again..

My question is - could this be cured by usin the direct spdif recording? - and if so, why? - is there SRC happening on the spdif ins, causing some kind of harmonics excited oscillations? - it almost seems like feedback oscillation.

OR - is it maybe something related to the default dsp setup, more specifically, one of the plugins? maybe relating to other posts Ive seen reguarding 'bleed through' - maybe causing an oscilation in my case?

TIA,

Mark
