Using a different output port.
I'd like to get audio from a different port than the standard one. The port I am using has cracked and the plastic is broken, so the audio jack fits loosely and makes crackling noises all the time. Can I change the port in kX and how would I go about doing that?

What is your speaker setup and which port is giving you trouble?
I would guess that you are using a 2.0 or 2.1 speaker setup, in which case you can use the "Swap Front and Rear" option in kxmixer to direct the audio to the unused port (and connect your speakers to the same port). |

I currently have a 2.0 speaker setup. The affected port is coloured green and I'd assume its just the main output (its right next to the mic port and has an ominating sound wave diagram). I dont think swap front and rear will work for me as I have a 022x card, which I think has problems with that.

Which codec does your SB022x card use? (Look in kX's about Window, and post what is says after "Codec name:" under "Hardware / Software configuration:").

Ok, you have a couple options.
1) Open the kX DSP Window and connect the output of the timbre plugin to the Center and LFE inputs of epilog, and connect your speakers to the Center/LFE/Digital jack on the card (the one the furthest away from the joystick port). 2) This one requires kX version 3538h. Go here and download one of my SB022x test plugins. Unload epilog, and load the test plugin. Connect timbre to the Analog Rear connections of the test plugin, and plug your speakers into the jack on the sound card for the rear speakers (the one closest to the joystick port). When the next version of kX is released, the "Swap Front and Rear" option should work for you. |

I cant seem to get build 3538 at the moment (the download links all fail). Instruction #1 got some sound working (only one channel will play), although I could only find 'center' in the DSP window, but no LFE input?

"LFE" is "Analog Subwoofer", and is directly below the "Center" input.

This works perfectly. Thank you very much, you've saved me much frustration!
I'll keep an eye out for 3538 and see if I cant try your scripts later on. Thanks again

Glad I could help. Since you are only using a 2.0 setup, this should work for you until 3538i is out, so just keep an eye out for that.
