??? setting up emu aps

I installed the drivers and have been trying to figure out the router and dsp settings needed to work with my emu aps sound card.

I want to be able to:
- record audio in on the e-drive left and right - while hearing this audio and other tracks' audio and midi.
- record midi in - while hearing this audio and other tracks' audio and midi..
- hear the wave files that I've already recorded
- hear the midi that I've already recorded.

I've been trying for a couple of days, but can't make much sense of the dsp and router settings. So far I've got the audio and midi to play, and audio to record (but without hearing it during the recording)

Anyhow it would be greatly appreciated if someone could post their dsp and other settings for the emu aps card. I think it would help alot of other people too. I'd do it myself, but I don't understand this.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

well, there's no special configuration needed to use APS (i mean APS does not differs too much from Live or Audigy in this case...)
All you've mentioned can be done using only two pages of mixer "Ins'n'Outs" and "Recording"... You even do not need to bother with "kX DSP" and "Router" at all (except maybe some very trivial connections in case of ASIO recording...)

So my recommendation: "forget about dsp and routing, read help file and don't fear - there's nothing special with APS"

aps

Thanks for the suggestion. I reset the dsp to default settings and worked with the in-outs and recording. I've gotten everyting to work except for the midi recording. I'm not sure if I'm the problem is related to the mixer or to cakewalk sonar. I can load sound fonts and hear midi output. I can hear the midi that I play in while recording, but I'm not able to record the midi signals themselves. I think I've tried every combination of in/out - recording settings for this. Thanks for your Help, Jim

wel, actually the 'routing' dsp effect is not optimized for E-mu APS, but for general use it should be ok

in order to record 'midi' make sure you have its slider unmuted ['recording' page] and, if you use asio, don't forget to connect fxbus2,3 to the epilog's asio

almost done...

I'm not using asio. I've checked the sliders in the recording page and they are unmuted and at about 7. I can hear playback of midi files. I can also hear midi playback while I play my controller. But I still can't record the midi signals in. Any ideas? If I can't get this to work, I'll have to reload win98 and the old drivers - which I wanted to avoid. Thanks in advance, Jim
