Basic Install Problems

A clueless newbie here looking for some help. I am using a SB Live! external USB card.

I downloaded the driver file and tried to install it but the SB drivers remained in effect. I don't remember exactly what windows I went through on the installation but I think most of the ones shown in the getting started guide were present.

So I uninstalled the creative drivers as instructed. I tried to once again install the drivers. Every time I do, I go straight from I go from the "setup will now install" window to the VST plugins window (which I select cancel) to the installation complete window. I never get asked if I want to install kx drivers for the following device. I reboot but don't see any kx drivers in the device manager and when I attempt to run the mixer program, it tells me that the kx audio driver wasn't installed correctly and to re-run setup which, of course, gives me the same results.

Although I uninstalled all Creative programs and deleted the SB drivers in device manager, I think there must still be a SB driver lurking somewhere because after uninstalling all of this, the computer always recognizes the card when I plug it in the USB port. There is a driver called USB Audio driver that automatically installs when I plug in the card even if I uninstall it.

Hmm, plus, the music program I'm using still runs on "SB Live! 24-bit External" even though I uninstalled (I think) all it's drivers.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Babe

As far as I know, the kX drivers don't work with any USB devices.
