Aah, you should read the help files...

1 - Right click kx icon->mixer->ac97 (unmute what is necessary, you might need to adjust the ac97 slider in the ins 'n' outs)

2 - in mixer->ac97 (might need to adjust the ac97 slider in the "ins 'n' outs" and in "recording")

3 - Don't have a clue.

OK, I think you are speaking of Stereo Mix, which is an option in the AC97 dropdown box, on the AC97 page of kX Mixer.

But it's there where I told you... in the AC97 menu there's a drop-down menu, select "StereoMix" in there...

Unless you isolate your recording circuit from the other circuits in the apartment you will just have to live with this one.

Here is a webpage addressing studio AC power.

http://www.equitech.com/articles/rep1.html

Here is another, more affordable solution----I have not ever used an isolation transformer for recording so I can't give this a thumbs up or down.

Another one on this page

Maybe someone on the site up here that actually uses isolation transformers can comment on them.

Maddogg6 will become famous soon enoughMaddogg6 will become famous soon enough

I dont think its line in/out related - I think its the speakers power supply or 'AC adaptor'.
I had one the ground disconnected intrnally and caused a good deal of hum and sensitivity to 'AC power noise'.

q: is the AC adaptor for the speakers plugged into the same wall outlet as your PC?

- if not try to make it so. If it is already, I suspect the AC adaptor for the speakers is inferior or possibly going bad, try testing one with the same power ratings as the one that came with it, and hopefully one with better ac line noise rejection.

OR - maybe you live in a place with NO grounds connected, as are in older homes in the U.S. - if so - try adding 'POWER FILTERING' capacitors to the output of the power supply if it produces DC current for the speakers..

I doubt if this is the only solution, I am sure there are others.

I think that this is a problem everyone experiences. If an AC switch is turned on or off near any of our computers, we get a loud static noise through the speakers. We have a separate area of the house where we record and we just don't turn lights or other electrical devices on or off while recording.

I do not think anything happened to your soundcard, it just sounds like not-so-good wiring in your apartment. The first thing I would try is plugging the computer (and speakers if they are amplified speakers) into a different outlet (preferably one on a seperate circuit (if possible) from the power switches, etc, that are causing you trouble).

BTW: As Doug W indicated, some electrical interference is normal. i.e. Anything that sparks (i.e. electric motors) can give you interference, and you will often see the interference on your TV screen, and hear it in speakers. But if it is a light switch or something that shouldn't spark, then I would think that the switch is bad, or the wiring (but it also depends on what else is on the circuit).
