Sad No Sound On Rear (Again)

First and foremost, apologies to anyone annoyed by this repeated subject. I've read most of the other related threads but since I'm a complete n00b with KX drivers I haven't been able to learn enough to fix my problem so i'm creating my own thread.

Okay, here's the deal:

I would like to connect stereo amplifier to rear outputs. So, that means pure stereo.
I tried the sb22x hack in driver compability and epiloglt_k1 and some other stuff but to no avail. I havent heard any sound coming out of my stereo speakers. Appearently i'm doing something wrong.
Also i've downloaded that plugin T22x58O but i dont know what to do with it...

ANY help is GREATLY appreciated.

Using 3538i drivers with this configuration:

Open the kX DSP window.
Reintialize the DSP (from the DSP menu).
Unload Epilog.
Load the above plugin.
Connect the ouputs of the timbre plugin to the fL/fR inputs of T22x58O (hold the mouse pointer over the connectors to see the names of the connectors).
Connect the sL/sR and Center/LFE ouputs of Surrounder+ to the sL/sR and Center/LFE inputs of T22x58O.
Set Surrounder+ to 5.1 with Surround ON.
Test speakers.

I am not sure what the sb022x hack option actually does, so I am not sure how it will effect the T22x58O plugin.

Please, let me know if it works for you.

BTW: I am not completely sure by your description what kind of setup you want to use. Start by doing the above and try to get all your speakers working first, and then we can try getting it setup the way you want.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm not currently by my computer, so i'll try your recomendation as soon as i can.

Regarding my setup; I want to use stereo speakers (alone, no surround sound!) connected to rear outputs (on SB Live!) to attain better sound quality (as i've read that due the difference of codecs between front and rear outputs there is a considerable quality difference).

Again, thanks for replying...

That is what I thought you meant but I wasn't sure. Your card has a single 6 channel codec and as such all 3 DAC's should be the same, and thus I do not think there will be any difference in quality using the rear connections instead of the front with this card.

I'm sorry to hear that. I was just hoping that my card has I2S codec and thought i could make use of it. Oh well....

Anyways, thank you(!!!) for your prompt replies. You have saved me many hours of tinkering with KX drivers.

So, you're sure i don't have 2 sets of codecs?

BTW: The Swap Front and Rear option of kX Mixer has no effect on the T22x58O plugin. If you want to swap front and rear, just do it manually by swapping the connections to T22x58O in the DSP window (if you are able to get the rears working, and if you still want to use the rear instead of the front).

Yes, "Codec name: Unk AC97-codec [83847658]" is the Sigmatel STAC9758 codec, which is a 6 channel codec, thus there was no longer a need for the secondary I2S codec.

For more info about this codec, you can look at the following documents from Sigmatel:

STAC9758 Product Brief

@vicnaum,

If you are unable to get it working, can you post the following info:

What version of kX are you using?
What does kX show for your "Hardware / Software Configuration" (see Ivank's first post in this thread)? Open up kX's 'about' window, and scroll down to find that info, and then copy/paste it here.

ohhh.... driver 3538i...

with the sbhack it plays in front spk. even without epilogue :-)))

without the hack the front _IS_working _with_ "switch front/back" turned ON and "5.1","4.1" + Surround == 'copy' or 'on'!!
but the back hole isnt working at all without the hack - even with the T22x58O plugin...
only the center-lfe works...

but WITH the sbhack - it plays just GREAT, just you have to do some manipulations after EVERY reboot...
1. -> reset the device settings
2. -> load your favourite DSP/settings/levels/etc from file (you saved your settings earlier, didnt you?)
3. -> choose SBhack enable in driver compatibility
4. -> do reset on AC97

and you'll have your sound back!

--
i dont know - maybe i'll try some earlier versions of the driver (not 3538i), cause i'm sick to do these shaman dances with bubens near the device...

You would want to use 3538h and T22x58O, as previous versions of kX do not have the rear output enabled for these cards (sb022x with STAC9758).
