error initialising DSOUND

hi all,

need some help to get kX working on winXP.... i've finally got it installed but whenever i do a speaker test i get the error: 'failed to create sound' if i do settings>>reset settings i get the error failed to initialise direct sound.....what's going wrong? being XP it already has DirectX 8.1 on it...

using a SB live 5.1

any help is much appreciated

I've just installed 3528, and I am getting the same error. Please reply to tell how you fixed.

Hardware acceleration/Sample rate conversion in Control Panel\Sounds and Audio devices should be set to max value.
